How much longer can this go on? Sure, guys are banged up. but the phoenix suns who are really just a laughable shell of themselves come in, after playing last night, and basically embarrass us.

I'm surprised there are as many posters here that defend MDA still.

Yes, his roster has holes.

But this is it. The count down has begun.

Thank you Mike, for keeping it real all this time.

But I was wrong about you. I defended you from so many here who said you lacked defensive balls, that your gimmick system depended on an HOF PG to work, that your system could never win a championship.

They were right.

And after tonight, I don't think you can last the season.

The watch has begun!

Are you seriously going to blame this loss on D'Antoni?

I was at the game and even the fans in the arena were smart enough to realize that everyone was just missing shots (and usually, they are the first to blame the coach).

Come on man, we were 20-30 from the FT line and 4-15 from 3 point land (with 2 of those 3s in the final minute, we were at 10% for most of a large part of the 4th quarter). That is what lost us the game.

Btw, when your two stars combine for 12-44 from the field, it's a miracle that you are even in the game...

D'Antoni can't make players make shots, but he can tell them TO STOP SWITCHING ON D EVERY PLAY. They always do it. It only works if the player happens to miss. Fields/Shumpert were guarding the big man every single play.

These Knicks are so incredibly frustrating to watch because they're doing such blatantly stupid things that make no sense, again and again and again

at some point, you tell Melo to stop chucking. at some point, you tell him to stay on the bench, that Balkman at 100% is better than him at 40% or whatever he was health wise.

And its not just this game - its all of them - this season, last year.

If the players are switching too much on defense wouldn't that be a Woodson issue?

The buck stops with MDA but there is a defensive coach who doesn't seem to be helping things.

evidently, they're not supposed to be switching on defense.

But something is not working with whatever combination the staff is trying.

Who knows, maybe its evident to the players that Woodson is the de facto new head coach, and they are resigned to it - hence the flat play.

we loss cause we have no depth, you wanted melo, you got him....
if even Shawne Williams was on our bench and IF he produced the way he did last year, we would have won more games than this.
Bibby should not play unless we have a PF to play Point/Forward, with a SG like Iman.

as many times as Iman switched, he actually held his own.
Is Dantoni telling them to switch and letting the Suns cause mismatches so easily?

For all of the people blaming D'Antoni for the losses this year and pointing to defensive issues, would you agree that we are not losing games based on defense?

Unless you truly believe we are 2 games under .500 primarily b/c of the defense, I don't see how you have a valid argument against D'Antoni. We're losing because of offensive efficiency and if you want to make an argument that D'Antoni deserves to be fired, it should be based on that since that is the part of the game where we are below average.

Now if you want to construct an argument against why one of the best offensive minds in the game is doing a terrible job coaching this part of the game, go right ahead. What many of us will tell you though is that the problem lies in player personnel and not coaching performance. There were concerns about the shooting post-Chandler trade as we didn't re-sign Shawne Williams and lose another shooter by giving up Billups as well. This was the main reason why many of us loved the idea of bringing Crawford in as I, along with several others, felt like our bench would be extremely thin until Baron came back (assuming he even contributes at a high level).

Thank You for as good as our defense was for the 1st 3 quarters if you can even call it good considering the Suns lost 5 straight and have had trouble scoring, The Knicks were trading shots with them in the 4th. Both teams scoring 27 for the quarter. We just needed a few stops but we were too busy switching on every possession. Allowing the Suns to get easy shots around the basket. Whether it was Gortat, Lopez, Hill, Nash or Brown. How many times was Shump & Fields guarding Gortat & Lopez and Chandler guarding Nash & Brown. Fuckin ridiculous! Hard to watch

I agree thats why I think the whole hiring "defensive coordinator" Mike Woodson is a joke. It was clearly going to cause tension

As one of the all-time D'Antoni haters, I must advise you that firing wont change the fortunes of this team all that much. We need personnel change as well as a coaching change.

We should seriously look into trading Stoudemire.

Not until we see what he can do with a real PG like Davis. If he doesn't improve then you can shake things up at the trading deadline in March

Trade Stat. Looks like he is losing his athleticism and getting rejected. He is only going to get worst. We need to throw in the towel and get something back asap. Monte Ellis?, Kevin Martin? Kevin Lowry ?

lol Or is that not even possible anymore?

I think Stat is just rusty because he spent the entire offseason rehabbing his back, and he was never a good one on one player so not having a PG to him up makes him look worse

I kinda agree - he may still be recovering from his back injury. But, the fact is, he has a lot of minutes on his body, and he may be slowly turning into LJ. And we can't be paying $20M for gutsy performances and a leadership role player. He needs to be putting up 20+ & 8
