Amare, melo, and Tyson take up almost all of the cap....balkman is the next highest paid guy and he makes peanuts!!!

Seriously, after our core guys the rest of the roster is filled with second round salaries.

Who are we picking up?

Amare is the only guy that can bring value back but ttghe Knicks will have to low ball themselves if they do.

I look at Milwaukee bucks....they have dunlevy, gooden and beno urich on their roster. For Amare that is just a ****ed up deal....but looking closer. The depth these guys bring to the table is exactly what the Knicks need. Gooden is having ghis worst season as a pro but he's a solid rotation guy if given the role. Dunlevy has been plagued by injury but he can fill the state sheet. Beno urich is a legit starting point guard in this league and would be a beautiful back up for baron when he comes back

Situation:

Jared and gooden can hold down the starting 4 spot with the rookie Jorts. Dunlevy could start next to Baron Davis giving the Knicks a legit back court. Insert Beno and Shump off the bench and you are cooking with Pam!

Jared/Gooden
Melo/Balkman/
Tyson/Jorts/Jordan
Baron/Beno
Dunlevy/Shump

All we did was trade Amare and got super deep. Dunlevy is injury prone but he's talent that fits. He's the only dark space. Gooden is still capable. If he could give 12/8 that's good enough.

I'd then trade Landry and toney and try to get value....

Not saying this is the solution but the Knicks don't have any choices aside from this. Getting Howard is not the way....the Knicks don't have enough talent on the roster.

Almost at the same rate as fantasy trade posts.

Its not a fantasy trade post....its reality.

The Knicks have no trades to make unless you trade Amare....that trade I came up with is the only one I could come up with that makes sense for both teams.

Besides Amare is declining already and the dudes contract isn't insured. So the Knicks have no leverage as far as getting expiring. Also the Knicks want to try to win now since they have Melo playing his best overall basketball of his career.

i don't think you can think about any kind of trade until Baron plays.

Say Baron plays by February 1st (which is looking likely)... trade deadline is March 15th or so - that still gives six weeks to determine if Amar'e suddenly looks like a fit if he plays with a PG who run the pick and roll.

Can we get Kevin Martin? Id take Kevin Martin and use the MMLE on Kenyon Martin when he can be signed.

Who do you trade for Kevin Martin? Do you not get the point?

Btw Kenyon Martin will get the minimum. No team is gonna sign him for more to play less than half a season.

You really need to give this more time than.
Seriously, Amare hasn't had a core group of guys around him since he got here. It's been a constant change and now that we do, we had the lockout, so no practice, shortened schedule, oh and btw no real point guard. It's looking more and more like this might be a team that hovers around .500 for the year. I know that sucks considering what the team invested. But for me, it's all about how we are playing in March and April. Obviously Baron is the big x factor and the key (as scary as that is) but it is what it is.

The Knicks aren't the only teams struggling. Looking at the standings and the teams that are doing really well are young and have been together for awhile.
There are few exceptions like SA and the Lakers, but you could attribute that to the fact that their teams have been together for years.

I don't like losing like anyone else, but everyone needs to back away from the ledge.

I'm not on the ledge....

Title of the thread says there will be no trades. I give an example of one of the only trades available...

We are stuck where we are unfortunately.

What Crzy said..Way too early to breakup the team and go through this all over again. Just have to make it work

I just wanna say **** mickael pietrus!!!!

Why would he sign in Boston? A team on the decline? He would be perfect at the 2 with Iman off the bench.

That's the worrying thing- we don't have the salaries to make trades, we don't have draft picks AND the new CBA forbids teams from trading more than $3mil per season. The problem is that the MLE will likely get spent each time on an aging player, or on keeping a cheap pick up who's proved worthy of some money. Essentially we have no room to maneuver and will be reliant on young players getting better (if Fields and TD had taken a step forward this year instead of 2 back, we won't be having the problems we're having).

On the plus side it means we'll actually have a steady roster and some time to develop chemistry (the lack of this I think is why we have stunk for so long), but it's a risky situation to be in

Because of the big three...there will be no trades
