Up until now I've thought that our offense will eventually improve to D'Antoni's usual standards, whether it's through increased familiarity or when BD starts playing.

However I'm now starting to wonder whether it's going to stay pretty much as it is- D'Antoni's style is exhausting in even a normal season, which is why he doesn't practice so much. But in a season with so many games so close together, I am starting to wonder whether it's actually possible to play at such a fast pace. The Suns have been awful this season, though i'm not sure if thats just a result of the talent drain of the past few years.

What do people think? And what does that mean for us? Can we do well with a medicore offense, scoring in the 90s with more iso and a slower pace, but with an improved defense? Should we even try to speed up our play, or are we just going to tire out the players even more?

I don't think it's exhausting, this is a myth. It's basketball either way you cut it. Seven seconds or less will get the shot up quicker, but he does not have them wearing weight vests out there.
Carmelo Anthony is ANTI-BASKETBALL

Ever since we got Melo, we haven't really ran SSOL at all.

We just don't have a team built for that right now so I think that is why you are seeing the slower pace. I doubt it really has anything to do with our schedule because if we had the pre-Melo roster right now, I'm pretty sure D'Antoni would be pushing them to run at that quick pace....

we cant rely on running Iso plays as 90% of our offense
and Melo is our only post player
Where else can we generate our offense from?
without penetration, plays, screens, movement with the ball, moving the ball to the open man?

We need to have 2 players that can penetrate from the PG and SG.
Melo is the only other option that can penetrate after Iman and it is hurting our offense..
We need a PG + SG that can both penetrate, scouts see our holes and weaknesses.
We got too comfortable running ISO plays and Melo is our only post presence
