Starting Lineups*

Head coach

Head coach

Notes
Jared Jeffries is close to returning from a hip injury.
Toney Douglas still sucks.
Zach Randolph is out 8 weeks with a bruised knee.
Darrell Arthur is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Mareese Speights, acquired from the 76ers on January 4, will start the game at PF.
Memphis are coming off a 100-95 loss to the Thunder.
Grizzlies are a decent team.
Knicks must win.

Scrub of the Night: Dante Cunningham (new feature that determines which scrub will go off the Knicks)

Let's get this! Our offense sucks balls, but our defense is looking suffocating. We'll have to ISO Melo and Stat to death until we get BD, but we'll take these "Ugly Ball" wins. Drive for 5 baby!

We have to cut out too many Iso plays for Melo and Stat.
Its time to set some back screens, double picks, PnR, and MOVE THE DAMN BALL n our opponents defense.
Are we missing another threat that can penetrate to do this or something?

I can understand when our 2nd unit with TD can't create but Iman should get more freedom and shouldn't get use to Melo going Iso plays...
Every now and then, I don't mind, but not for majority of our offense. It's hard to know when to cut/crash/ expect a pass or predict when Melo is going to score.
If you cut and crash at the wrong time, you can be limiting Melo's move and drawing a extra defender.
Our opponents defense are getting great rebounding position and packing the paint when Melo touches the ball, luckily we were up.
But no way we should be playing this style when we are down as we could dig a grave for ourselves really fast with that "system".

I would rather see us stick with the PnR offense, use curls, you know, run actual plays as opposed to ISO.
It stalls the offense and allows teams to get back in games. I'm sure that they will scout that trend and try to go away from it cuz it's not as effective. MDA and his staff are all about efficient scoring.

I agree, but what was it that stopped us?

Philly defense? Did they change scheme and take things away? They took away the ally oop.

Or did the knicks lose its legs? Looked that way to me.

Our defense was good last nite and rebounding is strong. Stat and Ty are getting it done.

Bibby's Father, former Knick players Henry is an assistant coach for the Grizz. Henry was not around in his youth and Mike has never been that fond of him. Im not sure of the nature of their relationship currently but when Mike was playing at Arizona Henry was the USC coach and young Mike was not happy to see his famous pops making big money while him and his Mom struggled.

Mike got that gift of Henry's basketball genes. Sure has hell didn't get good looks from him!

Go Mike!

I'm just confused how we have a new Memphis logo yet still use a Sonics logo for Thunder game threads lol.

Barkley: NYK 'not even close' to contending
January, 12, 2012

By Ian Begley
Mike D'Antoni believes the Knicks have enough talent to compete for a championship.

Hall of Famer Charles Barkley disagrees. Strongly.

Appearing on ESPN 1050's "The Mike Lupica Show," Barkley skewered the Knicks, making it clear he's unimpressed with their uneven start.

"They're not very good," he said. "Well, let's see: they don't play defense, they don't rebound the ball and they don't have a point guard. Other than that, everything's lovely with them."

Listen to the complete interview:

Lupica asked Barkley if the Knicks have a chance to compete in the Eastern Conference.

"Oh, not even close," Barkley said. "Let me tell you something: Miami and Chicago are so far ahead of every team in the East."

Barkley playfully suggests that the rest of Eastern Conference regular season should be canceled so the Heat and Bulls can play in the conference finals.

Barkley goes on to rip the Knicks' signing of point guard Baron Davis to a veteran minimum contract. Davis is sidelined with a back injury and may return late this month.

"I don't think Baron Davis can hold up enough to run Mike D'Antoni's system," Barkley told Lupica. ".... Baron's been a terrific player in his day, but it ain't his day anymore."

Barkley, who is an analyst for TNT, spoke highly of rookie Iman Shumpert but said the 21-year-old is not a natural point guard. Barkley doesn't think the Knicks have a player on the roster who can succeed in running D'Antoni's system.

"I don't think a point guard by committee can run his system," he said.

I hope he eats too much weight watchers sh$t and dies a slow skinny death
