At the bottom line we needed a C and Chandler is proving to be more offensive than I thought he could be--I think he can do even better given a chance scoring at 73%

This team is still far from where it needs to be but it can get to a stronger point than I previously had thought

I am with you Briggs 100%. They simply couldn't have found a better player to add to their roster this fall than Tyson Chandler imo.

+1 If you look at TC vs other considerations like Deandre Jordan and Samuel Dalembert, he's already outperforming them and proving to be worth every penny.

Yes these three players are all great for us moving forward. Who would have thought we were going to add 2 starters at important positions and one quality big man off the bench in the 2nd round. Very happy with this, we just need to put it all together.

I give them credit but I remain cautious. We're not out of the woods yet.

We're 5-4 against a combined 29% winning percentage.

The check is Philly tomorrow, but my money is on Philly (barring some wild spread).

The core of our group is very strong at this point. We are set at all five starting positions(assuming Bdavis can stay healthy and Shump moves to 2G). Our issues is depth.
I just hope that people will like me

I couldn't believe that some people were really not supportive of this move. Tyson has the exact type of game that fits this system. You want a big that can run PnR, has GREAT hands, footwork and speed. What has been really revealing is that some worried that Melo, STAT and Tyson couldn't co-exist, but they are passing to each other with aplomb!!! They are LOVING hitting each other with alleyoop passes. It's just fun to see them sharing the ball.

Really all we needed was a decent PG. Drafting Iman and Harrellson continues the solid drafting we've seen recently. When you don't have a lot of picks, you've got to make them count. Aside from Hill, we've gotten good value out of our picks. Iman is a revelation on Defense. Harrellson is MUCH more nimble and active than he looks. He only lacks speed up court, but his reflexes are sharp and he's got good feet.

Tyson Chandler is a very smart player, he might not be as athletic or long as some of the biggs and younger players but hes up there.
He makes it up with his experience, teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Iman Shumpert is also showing what TD can't do, but we still need TD to find back his role he had last year...

Im glad to see you are posting again Briggs, I know u were down after the Melo deal but it can work, with the luck of the amnesty...

Kudos on your call about Byron Mullins btw.

He did not do much last nite but he is the kind of active jump shooting big that would do well in our system.

Knicks management = Donnie Walsh, first and foremost for everything he did, including Shumpert and Harrellson.

Chandler in D'Antoni's system = Gold

He is showing how great he is in the PnR. Every time him and Melo the PnR, good things happen.

Don't forget to give MDA some credit for making the final call on Shumpert. That was his decision.

Agree. Knicks management had a great offseason. I still can't believe that they were able to get Tyson and the picks both look like steals.

Our GM did more this offseason than any other in the league, arguably. Depending on how we perform down the stretch he could win GM of the year

Agreed; I do definitely give credit for Shumpert and Chandler (less convinced about Harrelson) but the 5-4 against 29% is unimpressive.

The good news is that the rest of our schedule is very weak compared to other nba schedules. So I'm sure we will be playing a lot of bad teams, that usually play hungry at the Garden!

Is it? I thought generally the schedules evened out over the course of the season.

After 30 games many were willing to give Donnie exec of the year last year. We forget the buzz when "knicks are back" happened (pre melo).

He looked like a genius signing Rainman and it was Gallo's first healthy preseason.

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. We got a solid front line at the expense of depth.

enjoy the games!

Give Donnie Walsh credit for possibly having perfect vision

G Raymond Felton, Walsh FA
G Iman Shumpert, Walsh pick
F Danilo Gallinari, Walsh pick
F David Lee, Isiah pick
C Tyson Chandler, mesmerized by the bright lights of the big city, fell into Grunwald's lap

6 Wilson Chandler, Isiah
7 Landry Fields, Walsh
8 Toney Douglas, Walsh
9 Shawne Williams, Walsh reclamation project
10 Anthony Randolph, see above
11 Timofey Mozgov, Walsh FA that no one saw coming
12 Jared Jeffries, Donnie again

Head Coach - Mark Jackson, holdover from Walsh's days in Indiana

But it could never happen

once a knick always a knick
