a little fyi

I called Time Warner, threw a fit when they offered me a free sports package, and had them transfer me to disconect, where I made an appointment for them to come get their equipment on the 13th. The next day a rep called my wife, and offered us a reduced rate of about $70.00 cheaper per month for a two year period if we didnt cancel. Im going to end up saving almost two thousand dollars. If youre one of the Knick fans with time warner, call up and cancel, and get the special rate.

Have them throw in a few dozen 9-volts & a transistor radio so you listen to 1050 in the meanwhile.

This is what I am talking about - time to play hardball with TWC. We have missed 3 games so far and we are looking at the entire season possibly (60% of the games are on MSG apparently).

I called, complained, got the song and dance, sent to retention - they offered me free dvr service so I scheduled for Jan. 13th - will let you know if they call me with an offer.

I think everyone on UK with TWC should do this just to send a message. Don't accept any of their offers and schedule to cut off your cable. Once they know we are for real maybe they will get serious and hopefully we all end up saving some $$$ and getting our Knicks back.

Anyone else try this? I made the appt Friday night and have not heard back from TWC yet. I am wondering if it is just because of the weekend or if they are not going to make that offer to all users.

I would think it depends on where you're at. As much as I hate them, they're not dumb. If I were to call and tell them I'm cancelling they wouldn't give me a special offer, they have me by the huevos.

I figured this might be the case. We will see what happens. The FIOS guys stopped by a couple weeks ago to get approval from the landlord to install their lines on the block so I am not too worried. DirecTV is always an option as well so we'll see.

They did offer $10 off per month and I am willing to bet they make another offer. If more people set appointments to cancel, especially in areas where TWC has a monopoly - they will see the light and cut rates.

Netflix and BofA gave in when the consumer got smart an voted with their wallets - TWC does not want to be added to that list. The consumer just needs to take back control.

Anyone have follow up on this?

My appt is still scheduled for Friday - not sure what I am going to do. I do not expect TWC to call at this point since its been almost a week. I may let them shut it down an just wait or FiOS to be available in the spring. I may call them and see if they have another offer.
