Westbrook, Durant Have To Be Separated After AltercationDec 29, 2011 10:15 AM EST


Russell Westbrook's frustration appeared to have started with just 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the second quarter when he drove into the paint and kicked the ball out to Thabo Sefolosha in the corner. Sefolosha passed up a wide open 3-pointer, which prompted Westbrook to yell at Sefolosha “shoot the (expletive) ball.”

Sefolosha and other teammates, including Kevin Durant and center Kendrick Perkins attempted to calm Westbrook down immediately during an ensuing trip to the free throw line. But the emotions spilled over to the bench one minute later.

Durant appeared to again settle Westbrook, but Westbrook appeared to take exception to how Durant delivered his message. The two began shouting at each other and had to be separated.

No thanks, if you can't at with Kevin Durant, you should consider becoming a pro hockey player.

I think the media is getting in the head of Westbrook. He is just as skilled as Durant physically, however, he is not on the same level as him mentally.
They are both very hardworking and talented but the criticism is getting finally hitting Westbrook.
The media says he has to stop looking to take shots and facilitate more when they lose. While Harden is doing the complete opposite and making it work.
Then their are times where they point at him saying he isn't aggressive enough. There is a lot of pressure on Westbrook and the Thunder to be favorites in the West this year with their young talent. Finding a balance between scoring and facilitating isn't easy to do. It's 2 completely different mentalities and Westbrook needs to find that balance.

westbrook is in a tough spot because he USA in a starting lineup where he and durrant are there only guys capable if scoring. Sephalosha or however you spell it should not be in the league. Dude couldn't score with me guarding him. Then you got perkins and ibaka aa the other two guys. I would be frustrated too. Okc needs to take westbrook off the ball and get a point guard that passes first. They also need a post presence. Those big guys are not a threat to score. The bench is just a s bad. Can't fault weatbrook cuz if I was him id be mad too. Everyone is getting on him for not passing but who exactly should he pass to if they are all afraid to shoot cuz they suck?

For the Thunder, wouldn't it make more sense to trade for Dwight Howard than Pau?

Ibaka,Perkins, and Westbrook would be a pretty nice package for Orlando.
The whole point of having Ibaka and Westbrook, is to have the ability to add talent around them.
Because they are in their rookie scale contracts, they can add talent with FA, before they get their big pay day.
The idea of adding Dwight Howard with Durant would be very tempting for the Thunder.
The package above would be decent for Orlando but I think they would like to unload some other player like Turkeglu, Q, Duhon, Redick, or Jameer.

I don't remember Ewing and Starks having to be physically restrained from each other. Also, Ewing's Knicks had a clear hierarchy with Ewing at the top. That doesn't appear to be the case with the Thunder with Durant and Westbrook; their relationship resembles Kobe's and Shaq's or Garnett's and Marbury's.

Westbrook has to go. He has high value now and the Thunder can cash in to put some powerful complimentary pieces around Durant. Wait one more year and the Thunder could be the next Orlando Magic.
