I am sure that Glen is aware of this, but just in case he isn't....
Lin was released by the Rockets on Xmas day.

He's 6'3" 200 lbs and 23 y.o. graduate of Harvard with true PG skills.
He'd be the PERFECT pick up for a 10 day contract/look see, IMO.

Posting this in hopes that the media grabs it and it makes it's way to the NYK front office ASAP.

Strengths: Clever true point guard with a great feel for the game and a good shooting touch. Always looks for open teammates and delivers the ball accurately and on time.

With time, could be become a poor man's Steve Nash?

His playmaking and intangibles are certainly assets. He'd be a worthwhile project. But the Knicks need someone who can step in and play right now... thin on guards. I think he lacks the athleticism to compete in the NBA, and his playmaking/intangibles would make little difference in the NBA without being able to create space for himself.

Fair assessment, Commander.

Could someone please post the Youtube vids of Jeremy Lin vs. John Wall in summer camp 2010?
He looked pretty athletic to me on that day!

Jeremy Lin pwns John Wall in Game 4 of the Summer League (vs Wizards)
27 minutes, 13 pts, 6/12 FG, 1/1 3P, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

He could provide just enough until BD comes back. MDA would raise his game to another level.

Not enough time to raise his game. BD and Shump will be back around the same time. If we get him he's going to get maybe 5 minutes a game. It would turn out like when we had Sergio.

TD and Bibby will have to hold the fort down even if we pick up a guy like Lin.

Agreed.
He's from Harvard.
Likable and coachable kid with a VERY high BB IQ.
Definitely worth a 10 day contract to me.

Going by what's been widely reported. BD 4-6 weeks, Shump 2-4 weeks.

MSG3 - Toney Douglas is NOT holding down anything at lead guard. When Carmelo needed a breather from lead guard responsibilities, there were moments the Knicks resorted to Landry Fields bringing the ball upcourt.

Jeremy Lin would be a great fit.

If he can manage the floor, there more than enough scoring talent to maximize his talent.

We should be thankful if (and it is a huge IF) Baron Davis is ready by Valentines Day.

I don't know. I like jeremy Lin, but I don't see him as a true point guard. He's a combo along the lines of TD.

"Widely reported" never strained (or tore) his MCL... or played a single minute in the NBA.

Boom Dizzle could be back by MLK Day, Valentines Day or the trading deadline in March.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Guys like Arenas, and Nate are combo guards who we need not look at it. Lin is a good thought but not sure if he can cut it. What about a guy like Walker Russell JR. He's played with the Knicks summer league teams over the years and I'm sure he knows the system. We just need a stop gap-guy for a few weeks plus the guy can pass and is a pure a pg.

Not saying I'm against Jeremy Lin or bringing in another PG. but unless it's a veteran, temper expectations. Lin or a rookie/D League type is not going to get minutes.

Guys how can he not get minutes if he is the only guard capable of orchestrating the offense? Bibby is good for 10 minutes a game, 15 max. Do you really want us to look like Q3 the rest of the time? Melo bringing up the ball is still an experiment may not work out 4-5 games from now. You guys are putting too much faith in a ver thin backcourt staying injury free where the main cogs at PG, Baron and Binby are both injury prone.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

the widely reported reports are BD 4-8 weeks or the other widely reported 8-10 weeks. Shump, who has yet to get MRI, is 2-4 weeks.

They will not be coming back together.

MSG3 - our beloved Knicks do not have a healthy guard to run a simple pick-and-roll plays for Stoudemire.

Stoudemire finished precisely zero plays as the roll man on Sunday.

"Stoudemire loves slipping screens... cutting quickly down the lane without really setting a stationary pick. Passing to a guy who slips a screen involves a split-second reaction... which Toney Douglas does not have.

... it’s a play based on quickness and timing, it is not a play where a ball-handler can take a few dribbles around the screen, survey the defense and find the screener in the lane." Which is exactly what Toney Douglas do.

If a first quality lead guard was that good, he would be on an NBA roster. Lead guards are not born, they are made.

One more thing... Beggars cannot be choosy.

You guys are missing the point. Knicks are in a pick your poison situation. Give big minutes to a guy like Lin or whoever they grab and suffer through the mistakes that will surely be made. Or, let TD and Bibby pick up the slack and accept there play for what it is.

I've said many times that TD isn't a solution at PG, but I'd trust him and Bibby for a few weeks. They know the system and Toney will make up for his lack of PG skills by hitting shots.

You guys have been watching the Knicks too long to think Jeremy Lin or anyone else inexperienced will come in here and become a floor general in a short amount of time. Again, not against picking up Lin, but you have to be prepared for a steady dose of TD and Bibby. Offense wasn't our problem yesterday. Our problem was when Melo was out we fell apart. Yes, that was due to the fact we didnt have a distributor out there (along with the fact Chandler and Stat did a horrible job on the boards), but we beat a good team none the less. We'll be ok until we get Shump and Davis back.

As for when they'll be back, I haven't heard the 8-10 week thing for Davis. I heard 4-8 weeks was a smokescreen. And today D'Antoni and Shump himself said he'll be fine and back soon. Nothing is guaranteed but I think we have them both back around MLK.

not against Lin at all, think he just needs to be in the right situation.
I wonder how Mardy Collins and Frank Williams are sometimes, I thought when they were Knicks, they could have played a role on a suited team.

We obviously need another point guard. Lin would be a good pick up, but someone like a chicly akins or some other experienced pg is what we really need. Bring back Marbury!! (just kidding)
