Pietrus is expected to draw the interest from various playoff teams -- Boston, New York and the Los Angeles Lakers among them -- should he clear waivers.

Sad to see that Sweetney was waived again as well. Pietrus might be a good pick up but I do not know what is up with his knee that would cause a trade to be rescinded.

I thought he was available weeks ago. Read in an article he was talking to teams. He would probably be our best perimeter defender right off the the boat. I would take him for a minimum contract. To many risks for anything else.

Sweets is still around? I remember me an DJ talking to Mike Breen about him and him saying in the most diplomatic way that sweets was always gonna be a big fat ass and struggle with his weight and it would hurt his career.

I've always admired Pietrus' athleticism. For the Room Exception, its a no brainer if he can pass a physical. Not sure we have another real SG on the roster -- most of our players are tweeners. Out of LA, Miami, and Boston, we have the best offer since he would be in the mix to start at SG.

Let's see if he clears waivers (doubt it) and if so, if he can pass a physical.

You know I gonna spin wit it

If we pass on Pietrus, Manny Harris was cut by the Cavs and is now a free agent.

He's another 2 guard who may be low risk/high reward.

He was hurt in a freak accident to his foot; "freezer burn" (he's only expected to miss another week or two with the injury).

Harris, 22, appeared in 54 games for the Cavs last season (15 starts), averaging 5.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17 minutes per game.

Maybe his bad luck and the Cavs impatience could be our gain. He definitely showed some explosiveness scoring-wise last year.

He can shoot and we all know that loves that! At 6'5" he's got the size and definitely the stroke.

On a non-guaranteed contract, he might be worth a look.....

They might want to ask Baron Davis what he thinks of Manny Harris since he played with him last year....

I never heard of Manny, I just googled him up.
Judging from his stats, last year, he put up some good numbers when he got the minutes and started.
Looking at the youtube highlights, which could be misleading, he looks like a player that can attack the basket and a decent jumper.
His size, speed, quickness, strength, reach, and athleticism doesn't look great.
He reminds of a Lucious Harris and a little of Dejuan Wagner.
We are missing a player that could attack the basket, especially a SG.
However, we are missing a more solid defender than Fields too.
Iman could be a good defender but his shot isn't proven yet.
In general I feel we could use a more veteran player at the SG position.

Fields *feel he is closer to a SF, than SG, and closer to a 7th-8th man than a starter
Iman *questionable range*
TD *undersized*

Walker

Everyone on our roster doesn't have much experience. A couple of players I would prefer on this team are realistic trade options

Ariza
Wilson Chandler
Shannon Brown
Anthony Parker

Anyone know if we still have a 1st round pick to offer a team?

UFA

JR Smith *not sure if I want the good with the bad* and he wont be back till March. He could be taking TD role, without the defense. He does have better handle, ability to penetrate, and athleticism over TD but he has that Jamal Crawford in him that I dont like. TD and JR Smith can both get hot and look unstoppable.

Pietrus *i loved his size, mentality, defense, and shooting ability in GS, but he seems to have dropped off a lot the past couple years*

Redd *i am really not big on him, with his age and past 3 years with injuries. He was never a good defender to begin with and not much speed/quickness. Assuming he got slower, he would probably be closer to a SF on speed. He could be the best shooter available but he doesn't have the ability to penetrate or defend.

I don't think the 2.5m exemption can be traded? I hope we use this exemption on a player that we can bring back for a role next year as well. Ak47 is my first choice, however, I don't know if that is enough to attract him. Don't know when Euro League ends either. We have been throwing out that we would like a Forward out for awhile. I figured if he had interest in the Knicks, he would have contacted his agent with us already, if 2.5m and New York was a target. It's basically a 2nd round pick, but possibly better, our 2.5m.
We have the ability to lock up a player, possibly a veteran, or younger player.

1st Rounder
Balkman if he continues to do well, does he actually have value? More importantly should we trade him if he finds a role again with us? or extend him?

We have to use the 2.5 this year or lose it. Next year we are over the cap.

To no one's surprise, Mickael Pietrus agrees to terms with the Celtics after clearing waivers. Minimum vet deal per agent Bill McCandless.

Wow, he signed for only the vets minimum. He's a solid pick-up, but he won't impact their season that much.
