rumors had it on the espn knicks board that david aldrige was reporting...

golden state gives -
erik dampier
nick van exel

new york gives -
shandon andersen
kurt thomas
othella harrington

I would do this trade, but do we really need another point guard? I think then, we should trade Exel for Crawford. Suggestions? Ideas?

Nah, I would not do it. We don't need NVE and all the $$$ he makes. IMO Dampier ain't worth that. LOL
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I dont like that trade.

1. Dont want NVE here now that we have Starbury
2. Just my opinion but i wouldnt trade Kurt for Dampier

To be honest why make the move to get Nazr if we were gonna get Dampier anyway.

this trade will be great if Weed comes in the summer. Think of next year's lineup and our great bench.

bench-penny, van exel, nazr, othella, etc.

this is a championship caliber team with a true center.

Van Exel's contract is only guaranteed for next year. There is a team option for the following year:

I would make this trade in a heartbeat. Van Exel can play the 2, and Shandon's contract would be gone.

Van Exel can be deadly off the bench. He can provide instant offense for our second unit. But the Knicks would be giving up two very solid players in Othella and Kurt.

I like this trade better as an offseason deal.

this season - we are not going to win it all. we are not going to win with deke at center, or kurt at PF. kurt's resigning negotiations might have gone downhill, and furthermore can bolt (to mavs or anyone else - UTAH maybe) at the end of this season. deke is great for a 38 year old guy, but doesnt fit in with team goals for the next 3 years (probably), and shandon anderson doesnt fit in here all that much either. 3 guys who are questionable. dampier has decent center game, which has been overly solid this season (contract year, which he has admitted is the reason for this season's #'s), and van exel would/can be great in the post-season.

Dampier n Mohammed in the front line would be my second chose and thats IF we cant land Sheed.Remember we gotta be prepared if that happens.Now,if that trade is done i would still trade for Sheed by sendin Sweet,Williams,Harrington.Then still get Baker.

If you're conceded that we won't win it all this year... just when will we win it all? Rasheed will have a couple of opportunities to get here:

1) by trade on Thursday (right now not so likely?)
2) by sign/trade after the end of the season (imho most likely)
3) by free agency / MLE (didn't we use it this year on Mutombo?)

Isiah Thomas has done just about all he can do with this roster to get notably better. He's used almost all of his quality pieces.

FW/Sweetney/K. Thomas are his strongest commodities remaining.

I don't think a Mutombo trade will net us a superstar. I don't think anyone on the Knicks will net us a superstar. We have no first round picks for the next 2 years...

If we're gonna win a title, we're going to be just as ready now as any time. Yeah, Tim Thomas/Nazr/FW/Sweetney/Marbury/Trybanski still have upside. They're still young enough to make some leaps in their production.

Yeah, we COULD potentially sign Hashweed Wallace if he sacrifices a lot of money to play w/ the Knicks in the offseason. If not him, I'm sure there will be others available for the MLE in the summer. But this is the limit of our ability to get better, at least w/o giving up something to improve.

We did a good job trading Eisley/Ward/Lampe/Vujanic for Marbury--- it's funny, but I don't even miss those guys! The KVH/Doleac for TT/NM is still open to debate, but undoubtedly it's more of a lateral move. Maybe we'll be surprised in the next 15 hours.

yea definately do this trade. deke is useless out there, dampier is an upgrade at our post

I was told the trade would include deke and not othella. either way I'd do it.

shandon blows hard
deke is useless
and kurt is solid but needs to be upgraded.

van excel is incredible
dampier is a great pick up




any possibility it would be part of a 3 way deal, sending van excel somehow for wallace?

i doubt ATL. would want Excel n his contract,(speakin of contracts i would take his ova Shandon)in a trade for Sheed but thats why i mentioned Williams instead then maybe sendin Excel for Crawford.
