In 1989 NEW YORK acquired F Kiki Vandeweghe from PORTLAND in exchange for a 1989 first-round draft pick.
Portland later drafted Byron Irvin from Missouri with the 22nd pick... That's right, THE Byron Irvin...
Still available was Vlade Divac from Yugoslavia drafted at 26th by the Lakers who would later trade him for a young high school kid named Kobe Bryant.
In 1999 NEW YORK traded a conditional first round draft pick to PHILADELPHIA for the draft rights to F Mirsad Turkcan.
NY retained the rights of the pick to draft the then unknown Frederic Weis, from Limoges (France), who remains unknown to this day...
