36-30

Don't know where that lands us in the east.

I am factoring in some injury time and figure first 15 games are going to be erratic.

How fast Baron can get healthy and into the flow. That will take 10 games.

Thats .550 winning %.

My hope is that they do better. I am factoring in learning curve for Chump and Jorts.

This team on paper can compete for a championship.

If these guys can play carefree and into the system the have a big upside potential. Fields concerns me but my thinking is the kid did really well in Pre-Melo drama era because the ball movement was well defined. He had good lucks and the space to get to the basket Final 27 games never came together for them as we were hurt and understaffed. MDA had to slow the game down for Melo and BIllups. Boston series we were cooked going into it. I was not expecting much in that short series.

Anything less than conf. finals to me would be a disappointment.

In summary, Slow start but potential to finish strong!

Hmm...Good topic...

Think that coaching will be key this year...Getting Amare the right amount of rest, playing young and older players the right amount of minutes...Young legs will definitely help us this year...I think .55% means a 45 win team in a regular 82 game season...If we are talking conference finals which I agree with...I'm looking at a 40 win season which is 50 games in a regular season...

i don't know what to expect in terms of wins and losses. i think the standings might be a shock this year. the crazy schedule favors depth and teams that stay healthy. i think this is just a stay over .500 and make the playoffs kind of schedule. stay fresh, stay healthy. everyone, from boston to the bulls to the heat are gonna be resting guys some nights. don't try to go 50-16. 40-26 would be great.

my gut is telling me this is a lightning in the bottle season though. i wouldn't be shocked if the knicks made a run to the finals - though the national media will doubt them all the way. i think baron and melo relish the underdog role. that said, that's just my crazy gut feeling and i wouldn't be terribly disappointed if they don't make the finals.

but i would be very disappointed if they don't make it out of the first round. this should be a second round minimum season.

knicks have gone all in, trying to do this on the fly. it probably won't be pretty some nights, but other teams will be uglier and have less talent. second round or bust. hoping to go farther.

36-30 sounds reasonable. There are many unknowns about this team and several of them (including Carmelo being a more efficient offensive player) would have to pan out favorably for us to end up with 40+ wins.

I'd like to see Melo relish more. Intensity and leadership instead of smiling.

I look for Boston and PHilly to get out of the gate well. Established roster with chemistry in place.

On paper was are a (82 game season) a 55+ win team. Game not played on paper.

Its not how your start but how you finish.

i think Boston is going to be hurt by their old roster, lack of depth and the compressed schedule. i think boston might start strong, but tail off. gonna be interesting.

i do think the schedule favors teams young and deep and talented teams like OKC, MEM, LAC, DEN, POR, IND, PHI and even MIN (i think they're a surprise playoffs team this year)... whether the playoffs do as well is another story.

What Really Happens

December - Knicks defeat the Celtics on opening night, in double overtime. Josh Harrellson pops Kevin Garnett under the rim and the message has been sent. Carmelo smiles during the fracas because that is how he rolls. Some guys simply play relaxed, while others feel compelled to frown and grit their teeth. People misunderstood the gracefulness and approach of Duane Thomas, Jim Brown, Gary Templeton and Hank Aaron as well.

January - the games feel like pickup runs at the park, guys are getting acquainted, beat writers get nervous and try to stir controversy after a three game losing streak on the west coast swing. The rotation is an open audition.

February - the first four game winning streak, The Garden rocks as Baron Davis drops 9 assists for his debut the day after Valentines Day vs the Kings. Trade deadline rumors are rampant as Toney Douglas is reassigned as a Pine Brother.

March - Jerome Jordan starts his first game as Tyson Chandler rests on brutal 4 game road trip to start the month. The Answer Man is arrested in Atlanta for leading Knicks cheers among thousands of transplants at game on the 30th. He posts bail the next day.

April - Knicks defeat Miami and Boston the same week as Iman Shumpert notches his tenth double double of the season.

I'll go with 39 wins and 27 losses.
It will be an interesting season with the logjam schedule.
Teams like the Heat, Bulls and Celtics....
who have been together longer than we have....
will have the advantage of team chemistry.
It'll take a while for us to develop that chemistry....
and an identity.
The Rangers in hockey have created quite a bit of excitement
with their early season success...is this Dolan's year?

I think the more interesting prediction to make is whether MDA will last the full season or not?
If things go south or seem to take thru end of Jan/Early Feb to meld he will be hounded by every NY-er with a keyboard and a twitter acct. it will take grit and determination to get this together and get the offense to gel while BD is still out. Too much excitement usually lead to unrealistic expectations. MDA knows he need to win the ECF minimum to survive, this won't be no walk in the park. The sheetles have better chemistry, the Bulls have balance and youth, Indiana can probably outrun everyone else, the little green men are old and broken but deadly in short stretches.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

38-40 wins. It'll take time to gel and get the chemistry going. The possibility of Amare missing some games to rest, Baron coming in and adjusting mid season and the thin bench may cost us some games. It's not so much the first (Regular) season but its the second (playoffs) season that we need to be positioning ourselves for.

Knicks signed a new player today:

Itme Diubg, a 4 or 5 positon Euro player. I think from some Georgian team. Think raw, like Mozgov! Kit grew like 6 inches in the last year and he is only 21!! Dude is 7-2 and 280 so he is solid. Knicks thinking of stashing him another year or bring him to the Dleague and let Mase work with him. Kid was playing the point most of the time.

Any one read this? Im surprised nobody talking about this!

I expect at least 40 wins which is the equivalent of 50 wins in a normal year. I also expect to win the division to finish 3rd in the East and top 5 or 6 in the League.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
