Antonio McDyess will not return to Spurs

The Spurs had until the end of business Monday to guarantee the other half of veteran big man Antonio McDyess’ $5.2 million contract, but they won’t drag the process to the end of the day.

The teams acknowledged that McDyess won’t be back, and the club will get to remove $2.6 million, the non=guaranteed portion of his contract, off its player payroll for the 2011-12 season.

McDyess, a former All-Star and an Olympic gold medal winner i n 2000, started all six playoff games last season.

McDyess??? I can see why some would want him, but I'm not with that move at all.

Too many bad memories... I was in the Garden when he went up for that dunk during that preseason game (right after we traded Nene and Camby for him- Ugh...), and came down and grabbed that recently repaired knee. I'm sure that many of us who remember those dark days don't want opr need the reminders of that era. We're moving on to better, brighter times ahead. Let's get someone who is younger and more durable, and who can join the Knicks with a clean slate where new, happy memories can be forged.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

i like dyess, but no.


i'd stick to the guy i mentioned pre-Baron - save the $2.5M for UFA Kenyon Martin when he gets back from china in early march. roster deadline for playoffs is something like april 1st, i believe, because the trade deadline is march 15th. so Kenyon could be on the playoffs roster.

If anything that taught players not to come back too soon after knee surgery and only after extensive rehab like Amare. Knicks always pushed guys like H20, Dyess

Don't need him, we need someone who can play the Shawne Williams role and knock down the corner three and stretch the D. That is what we need, I'm thinking we take a look at Posey or a flier on Gilbert for the vets minimum.

Nah, just hold the roster spot open until the spring and grab Wilson when he comes back from China.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I asked for this earlier, I am told he will be an RFA and Denver will likely match.

lol... I should have known that you'd have a witty response to that comment, Nalod. You haven't changed a bit in that regard since your "Nedyal" days.

That would apply to all of us old schooler true fans, though... Never that. I rode it out and have been to games very year. I'll be hollering extra hard this year, beer in one hand, Prime Rib sammich in the other.

McDyess retired, so this is all water under the bridge now anyway. We're stacked up nicely so far.
