I expect the Knicks to win the division either way. No one else has improved they way we have and Boston's in big trouble this year. They are a very old team that has to play 66 games in 120 days; they lost their most important bench player in Jeff Green for the season and maybe longer; and Ainge has totally destroyed their relationship with their best player, Rondo, by trying to trade him each of the last two years. Boston should still make the playoffs, but I can't imagine them getting even one of the top four seeds.
No offense, but you cannot write Boston off like that. They have chinks in the armor, but they still have a veteran team that knows how to play. The fact that they lost a bench player is tough, but, we don't really have a bench to lose. I think we can win the East, I'm just not sure we count Boston out so easily. We haven't had a lot of time to build chemistry.
I understand experience and all but I don't think they're really going to try to win the division. Pierce is 34, Allen is 36, and Garnett is 35. Also, Garnett hasn't been healthy since they won the championship four years ago. If Boston wants to do something in the playoffs, they'll have to give those three a lot of rest throughout the season. Remember, they're playing 66 games in 120 days. And, I believe, that Danny Ainge has destroyed his relationship with their best player, Rajon Rondo. Rondo's a guy who, by all accounts, is mentally and emotionally fragile. Now he's been shopped around the league each of the last two years. I think that will affect Rondo, and the rest of the team, all season. Similarly to how the Perkins trade affected them last year.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion
How beautiful if nothing more
Than to wait at Zion's door
I've never been in love like this before
Now let me pray to keep you from
The perils that will surely come
