MINNEAPOLIS -- Ricky Rubio wowed an eager crowd with some slick passing in his NBA debut and Kevin Love had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 117-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in their preseason opener on Saturday night.

Rubio had six points, seven assists and six rebounds in 23 minutes, eliciting chants of "Ole! Ole! Ole! Ole!" in the fourth quarter in homage to his Spanish roots. Michael Beasley scored 21 points and No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams had 14 points for Minnesota in coach Rick Adelman's debut.

Mike Dunleavy had 16 points and five assists and rookie Jon Leuer had 18 points and five rebounds for the Bucks.

Watched him play. God he's good. Absolutely natural point guard. He just has that understanding of it that only a handful of players have. Joyous to watch.

Sounds like he may be as good as advertised - hurts that we disnt get him if this is true. No chance they give him up if that's the case.

Well we can always hope to get one of their other PGs if Rubio ends up being alpha-wolf in timberland.

I'm curious to see how the T-wolves do this season- they actually have a coach for a change, and do have a lot of young talent (a bit too much- they need to clear up their roster a bit or you'll get some chemistry problems from disgruntled players out of the rotation).

Anyone notice that Anthony Randolph is already in Adleman's dog house? He only played about 4 mins. So he's managed to p*** off every coach he's had so far- Nelson, D'Antoni and now Adleman- a shame, as with a better attitude he could have been something in this league.

Ha! I spent all of last season deluding myself that AR was capable of being an all star and that it was D'Antoni who was holding him back via a petty grudge!

Minny might be a fun team to watch this year.

yeah, saw that game. minnie is fun to watch. kevin love lost 25-30lbs and looks great. he is going to put up some incredible numbers this year.

only problem with minnie is that kevin love is kind of an undersized PF. derrick williams is supposedly an undersized PF, too. that's gonna create issues there, i'd think. they have a lot of talent, but it's all weird guys who aren't really prototypical types for their positions. rubio is going to be defensively challenged. he's already getting abused in the post by bigger guards. but he just seems to know exactly what he's doing out there, already. he could be ROY. and rick adelman is the perfect coach for that weird bunch.
