If this guy can get healthy he can be the missing piece for this team to excel. People seem to have forgotten just how good Davis actually is as a player. Sure he's not going to be flying around anymore, but there's nothing wrong with his PG skills. He can pass with the best of them. We won't need him to come in and carry the action. All he'd have to do is execute the offense and get STAT, Melo and Tyson easy shots. I just hope his back isn't as bad as they made it sound.

he's great when he gives a ****, which seems to be in contract years. hopefully, he performs at the standard Melo, Amar'e, and Chandler will likely demand

Bibby didn't look to bad with this offense.
In fact, he looked better in PG than probably TD and Iman.
Whether distributing, bringing up the ball, setting up the offense, and hitting the wide open shot.
Iman can still learn a couple of things from his veteran. However, he has the ability to penetrate and dominate, no other PG can on our roster.
Woodson looks like he is right, he can play starting PG *limited minutes*, backup, 3rd string, or not play at all.
That isn't ez to do of a player, to put down his ego, and perform whenever to whatever role he is asked of.

While Baron can look like a star if hes healthy he is known to take a bad shot here n there.
While he can pass and penetrate, if healthy, I still would look at him as a upgrade over JC.
He simply is capable of playing PG and SG or combo guard style.
With the signing of Baron, it seems likely TD could be looked to be dealt, possibly with Fields, to a rebuilding team.
Most importantly, we are not giving up assets for him.
Can he be healthy and will he be looking to get in shape and remain in good condition would be big?
Is he a worthy of an extension of over 2 years, I highly doubt he is worth the risk, at his age.
I look for him to be a 1 year stoppage till Iman is ready to increase his work load.
I am a believe in Nash, while, I wouldn't look to play up 30minutes a night, he would be another great mentor.
You can tell Chandler, Amare, and Melo believe in this kid now...
They know he has a lot of potential.
How high will he reach and when how fast will he improve are the 2 most important questions to me...

Baron is one of the better point guards in the nba. Adding him to the best front court immediately elevates the Knicks to championship contention. The Knicks also have become a desired destination for players because of the talent and character in place already.

Crazy, a few years ago that didn't exist. DW made it possible, Stat made us matter again!

Agreed and the quicker Tony is not starting, the better for the chemistry of the front line. I like Dougie as a SG, PT PG backup.

A healthy baron and we are DAMN good, contenders 100%!!!

Not the biggest fan of Barron, but I was very frustrated with our stagnant offense last year and I didn't see anything yesterday to make me feel any better about this year. Having TD run the point and set up this offense is going to be an awful waste of talent and opportunity. I am no longer interested in trying to develop him, he has shown zero improvement over the last year. We absolutely need a starting PG and Baron is the best available.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

It just hit me yesterday that TD is more like John Starks than any other comparison I can think of....minus the craziness. He's just not a PG. I think this has been clear to anyone who watches the Knicks closely. I love the guy and brings a lot to the team. But his value is maximized as a 6th or 7th man.

Davis is not much of a risk financially, but he can't eff with chemistry. Judging by his past, he won't. He's been the heart and soul on every talented team he's been on. And since we're in a position to contend, I think he'd be great. Just has to stay healthy and focus on facilitating. I'd be excited if he landed here.

As long as Baron can maintain a healthy status for most of the season, there is little risk in adding him. We need his court vision and distribution skills and if we can get that for the vet's minimum, it helps solidify the Knicks as a title contender.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Hope this is true. This team is begging for a playmaker. Even with Billups last season, our offense was alot of one-on-one and everyone had to get thier own offense. With Davis here, Chandler all of a sudden becomes a factor on the offensive end which will help. Also, this move should help Fields get back to where he was offensively when Felton was running the show. As good of a leader as Billups is/was, he was never the type to make the players around him better with the pass. Really hope this is true....

Is it possible we just upgraded the point from last season?

Take your pick: Baron or Chauncey?

Until he dunks over two Chicago Bulls on the baseline in a playoff game...

MSG3 - "It just hit me yesterday that TD is more like John Starks"

SFX: loud buzzer.

Toney Douglas is "paint by numbers" in the mold of Charle Ward. Like Ward Douglas has only one gear, not much change of pace, dribble determination or intuition.

If Baron Davis wants New York, the red carpet has been laid out. Cool.

Raymond Felton Is The Missing Piece

Q. Silverfuel: "Are you guys sure Baron is the missing piece?"

A. Baron is the best piece available for cheap.

We need somebody to drive the bus, make the lob, distribute the rock.
Also, if we add BDiddy, if makes our bench deeper.
I'd put Shump at SG and make Landry and TD the 1st ones off the bench.
Finally, our youngins would grow from the added presence of another vet.

I hope that he chooses us and that his back has a miraculous recovery.
