I'd wait until Kenyon's China deal ends in early March - he'd still be playoffs eligible. He'd be a perfect backup for Amar'e at the PF.

Wait for Kenyon.

Even if it's not for Kenyon, I'd just hold the room exception back, rather than overpay someone like Maurice Evans. There will be guys who pop free. Just have to be patient.

Vets minimum....nuff said. He'd do it for the remainder of the season especially if the Knicks are winning. Wilson Chandler is restricted still just to nip that in the bud

yeah, i thought about mentioning that Wilson was an RFA and Denver could match. haha.

but I think a front court rotation of Tyson/Amar'e/Kenyon as the bigs is pretty awesome. allows you to go small if Melo is resting. Kenyon is the kind of veteran back up you need to win a ring. a guy who can come in and play at a high level for short stretches.

i think he'll want more than the Vet minimum.

i'd rather get someone who can make an impact in the playoffs than someone who isn't that good.

Yeah, I don't blame Kenyon for wanting to go to China, but we can't afford to sit around and wait for someone like that. STAT's knees need rest now.

also, whatever happened with Bostan Nachbar's (sp?) workout?

With Shawne signed, may be time to call Bostan back.

Nachbar is pretty tall and he can hit a three. I'd take a shot at him if Troy Murphy and Mo Evans fall through.

That would be some front court, but I think he would want more than Knicks have to offer.

What about Reggie Evans? He could back up the 4 and 5 and help on the boards when Chandler is on the bench in foul trouble, which may be often.

While Reggie Evan's will probably be our best PF after Amare and Hunter, I wouldn't rather get one more athletic player like

Ak47
Ariza

They can play multiple positions and can play both f spots and more. They will be so sick with Tyson Chandler...
I wouldn't be apposed to Reggie for the vet min. But I would even prefer Martin over Evan's....

Reggie Evans would be a very nice, nasty big man addition, perhaps best known for his molestation of Chris Kaman a few years back, I can only imagine that opponents do not look forward to bodying up with this guy.

He's one of the most efficient rebounds/minute in the league - exactly what you'd want out of a bench guy.

Of course, there's another Evans that we might be more urgently interested in: swingman Mo Evans.
He's the unsung player that's eaten away at #2 overall pick Marvin Williams' playing time in Atlanta. solid all-around player, albeit one w/o superstar upside (which is perfectly fine on the Knicks). He'd be another member of the Atlanta contingent that's taking over the Knicks.

From Rotoworld:
The Knicks will "zero in on" Maurice Evans after losing Shawne Williams to the Nets.
New York is offering the full $2.5 million exception for the veteran, who appears to be at the top of the list now that Jamal Crawford and Shawne Williams have been scratched from the list. If he does sign, Evans will get some solid burn considering how shallow the bench is for the Knicks. Dec. 15 - 11:44 am et
