The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a deal in principle with the league-owned New Orleans Hornets to acquire guard Chris Paul, according to sources close to the process.

The Clippers, sources said, will send guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected 2012 first-round pick to the Hornets for Paul.

If he can be and is Amnestied, we could pick up Billups on the Vets minimum. That would be very cool but somehow I don't think it is possible.

he can't be amnestied b/c his new contract was signed after the new CBA.

my guess the clips start CP3 and billups in the backcourt together. caron at 3, blake at 4, deandre at 5; with mo williams off the bench.

It seems legit this time. If they are getting both the pick and Gordon, it's going to be impossible to turn that down.

and people were raggin on david stern and the nba this whole time. this is exactly the way things should have gone done. the lakers/rockets deal was a joke and now the hornets are being properly compensated for a player of cp3s stature. good deal for both teams.

Clips are only paying him 2 million and he could start at the 2 next to Paul. Why amnesty him?

So Clips pick up Chauncey and trade for CP3, all the while holding onto Bledsoe and Mo Williams?

they better hope they can get a contract extension out of him or this is could be an expensive rental. would suck if they have to turn around next year and try to trade the guy cuz he wont sign.

Gordon is a very good, young player who is going to get better. Aminu didn't impress me at Wake Forest or in his first year in the League, but he's young and he's got a lot of potential. Kaman is a good center. I like this trade for the Hornets.

I'm not sure he's fast enough to guard any 2s. However, given the status of Paul's knees and Billups' health, It might make sense to play Paul 30 min and Billups 18 at PG. Maybe you can give Billups 6 mpg at SG if the other team has a slower SG in the game. Or maybe Paul guards the SG and Billups guards the PG. The average SG is going to have 5 or 6 inches in height on Paul though. They're both great players. It would be interesting to see how it works out.

Yeah, unfortunately this upcoming draft looks to be strong at every position except point guard.
