Keith Van Horn is the missing piece. He was scoring better than 16 points a game, his best numbers in three years. Only Kurt Thomas was averaging more rebounds. The player they called soft was pushing hard. And now he's in Milwaukee, traded for Tim Thomas, who left Villanova after one brilliant year, was the seventh player drafted, and has never lived up to expectations. He has the same number of NBA seasons as the man he replaces, but his best scoring totals - 13.3 last year - were always lower than Van Horn's worst year. He's 6-10, but spends too much time on the outside. The rap on him in Milwaukee was that he consistently delivered less than he was paid for. And now he brings his SPORADIC game to the Knicks.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

at least give credit where credit is due, playa... don;t try and pass that off as your own words.
If anyone knows of a SMART Knicks forum, with lots of activity, and minus people like PLAYA... holla at your boy.

why we wont miss KVH:

While there was never any doubt KVH could be productive in terms of rebounds and points, Wilkins didnt trust him late in games. Neither did Chaney, LArry Brown or Bryron Scott. KVH is good, he's a good scorer and good rebounder but the bottom line is in the 4th quarter when 90% of NBA games are won and lost your relying on a guy that isnt clutch, has bad hands, is turnover prone and cant keep the man he's guarding in front of him.

Thats a lot to scheme around for one of your main players. While TT isnt as productive I think Isiah (like the 3 GMs before him) just decided we would be better off trying to get that production from other areas.

I agree with you 100%. TT is a bench player, KVH is a second or third wheel. We just got a snippet of what TT is--a LOW IQ[and he is ]basketball player who plays small and soft for his size. Im much more content starting Penny Hardaway at SF than TT because he's smart and plays better D. Thats why I keep looking at this deal and realize it didnt have to be made now--it does NOT improve the team NOW--so why not wait until the end of the season to re-evalute?

KVH IMHO was playing the best ball of his entire career for the Knicks. I believe his trade value--to the right team AFTER the season--couldve been signficiant. Tim Thomas doesnt have half the value. Were stuck with Tim for atleast 1 1/2 years at a minimum.

you could be waiting a LONG time for KVH's value to go up. He was traded for a 36 year old Mutumbo, Glen Robinson and now Tim Thomas. I would say thats pretty much par for the course. Maybe you guys see things in KVH that everyone but Scott LAyden misses.

With the depth of this team we dont need KVHs production, so why not just get another player you like more? Part of the reason for KVH's poor trade value is the last look teams get at him are all after terrible playoff performances. Here's a newsflash... we got a good deal for KVH, rather than let him disappear this May (as is his history) and hope someone takes him off our hands.

The deal would not have been made straight up... the Key was Nazr...
I certainly did'nt miss Van Horn's defense last night.
We would have gotten lit up at the 3 spot and probablyu would have lsot the game. Jut my opionin of course..

But has'nt this horse been beaten to death already in previous threads? What's the point of argueing this if it's done and over and scurtinized in some legth elsewhere...

You guys SAY ALL THE RIGHT THINGS IF WE WIN, If pistons had someone who could score we would have easily lost last night. When we play teams who can score points and play defense you're gonna wish we had KVH.

but the KNicks didn't lose..they won.

they won against the second best team in the east.....

and they won WITHOUT

KVH
HOUSTON
T.THOMAS
NAZR
so what does that tell you?......

btw,
Pistons scored 88 points...which is probably around the team season avg....you make it sound like they avg 100 points a game and they only scored 70 last night

I will never miss KVH because any team thats only as good as KVH will take them will never be very good. Thats why he's been traded from 3 playoff teams in a row now.

KVH is GONE. No one but his fans will miss him. The rest of us are too optimistic to dwell on nonsense like that.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

To start off I'll tell you I'm a KVH fan. I don't think he is as bad on d as people say. I also saw alot of philly games last year and anyone would have problems playing with AI. But don't make excuses for last nights game. The knicks played great when they had to, Marbury was fantastic the whole night, good contributions from the bench(not everyone), played great d in the clutch. Detroit plays great d and we made the shots when we had to. Detroit has scorers-Billups, Okur, Williamson, Prince, Hamilton-they are a VERY talented team. We played good d at the right time. Hamilton had a bad night-great d or just an off game? What came 1st the chicken or the egg?
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Maybe that has to do with no one having to rotate like crazy thanx to allan and KVH's shortcomings... getting rid of one strengthens us

just like with spree, get over it people. whether we miss him or whatever is all speculation. he's been traded, now let's move on. so far, from what we've seen, isiah has a vision and direction for this team. so far, every move has worked out. so let's give him a little credit and hope this move will work out as well. tim thomas may be kvh incarnate in the playoffs, or he could be better, or he could be worse, but if we win more with him here, then it's a good trade. if we lose more, then it's a bad trade. very simple.

OK now don't forget what you are saying when we win, because when we lose expect the same type of analogies I just got from you guys.
