Carmelo Anthony left a scrimmage today after appearing to hurt his right ankle coming off a screen and stepping on rookie Iman Shumpert's foot.

Anthony hit the floor and stayed down for 30 seconds as a hush fell over the practice facility. When he got up, he appeared ready to continue but soon walked off the court after one possession to the trainer's room and did not return.

The Knicks have not released any information on the extent of the injury.

Let's hope it turns out to be nothing. This is the only fear I have when it comes to this team trying to contend this year. There's just no way to protect against fluke injuries.

i hope it isn't anything serious.
If it wasn't serious, I think it could be a blessing in disguise.
No offense, ONLY if it's not serious, I think Melo can something's learn from the sidelines.
Seeing things from another angle, he, might what he can do to help other players as well as the team.
How he doesn't have to take bad shots anymore, no matter how many he think he can hit.

Ive seen Kobe and many players of the years, learn from the different angle.
I think there would be a lot more ball movement. Would help actually, if we had a guard to play the pick n roll efficiently with.
It would help, watching everyone hustle, and play defense.
He's an all star, while many guys have a lot to learn on from Melo,
there is plenty that players can look to learn of each other.
I just hope's he absorbs it.

I would like him to not only use his energy on scoring/rebounding.
Other area's of the game are just as important, no offense or defense, should I say?
It is still a team sport and I hope he heals, proving me wrong....

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony hyperextended his left knee during practice Monday and is listed as day to day, the team said. Anthony became entangled with a teammate during five-on-five drills in an afternoon practice. He appeared to be in discomfort, but walked off under his own power. He did not return to practice.

Melo says he's fine. Not limping.

Melo walks by, no limp, says, "I'm good. I'm good. No worries." #Knicks #fb
