I really think there was a contingent of owners that wanted to cancel the season and force the players into a much more restrictive cba. Stern's desire to get games back by Christmas was what got the labor dispute resolved. Now his bending to pressure in the Paul trade may have created an alliance between the big market owners that allows them to circumvent the new cba. Cuban's acceptance of a sign and trade from the Knicks to lose Chandler led to a trade exception for the Lakers to possibly acquire Howard and cap space for the Mavs in 2012 to pursue Paul (not a laker) and Deron ( not a teammate of Howard).

Stern created a monster. He played hard ball with the players, and now he has the owners all riled up and out of control. The issues the new CBA was supposed to fix are not even close to fixed, and teams are already overpaying for players. And the small market owners are even more bitter and mad. Heckuva job Sternie!

yup, those TV contracts is what got the deal done. IMO it's all about the $, they got there 300 mill back from the players, and they weren't about to give it back to the networks because of cancel games..

It look's more and more like to Miami heat started, Super Trio teams, or at least 2 Stars per team.
Will there be enough stars in the upcoming draft's to cover all these team's?
Not every team has the ability to spend like Lakers, New York, and the bigger market team's.
It's a business, if you can't retain your asset's, "All Star" , it would be tough to rebuild.

Denver looked like it was going to be in to have plenty of asset's, young players, picks, and on the right road of rebuilding.
Unfortunately, their indecisiveness and possibly their inability to resign/retain their FA's and RFA could cost them big.

I agree with Stern that Hornet's first deal wasn't an attractive offer for New Orleans.
Young players and picks, with the ability to tank and rebuild through the draft and unloading their contracts, in the mode of Thunder and Heat *b4 Dwade*

The Celtics started the 3 Star system, not the Heat.

Stern is corrupt.

Talk Hunter might bring up collusion and threat to litigate the trade block.

I would think CP3 toast at melo's wedding was he was colluding with other players himself.

Teams can collude, but can the players?

i think this whole thing was more that the potential owners of the hornets didn't like the package and threatened to pull their bid on buying the team. if i'm stern, i veto the deal too because none of the other owners want to be responsible for the hornets anymore. if the hornets actually had an owner and this original deal was accepted it wouldn't have been vetoed.
