La can't revive the trade with Paul but can take on Hedo's contract. Does this put them in the lead for Howard

Any exception created by dealing Odom isn't big enough to take in Turkoglu. I'm not seeing LA's endgame here, nor why Dallas would help.

So LA does Bynum + picks for Dwight and they get to keep Pau?

I also think that Cuban wants Deron. There is no way that Deron stays in NJ without a second star and Bropez isn't that guy.

I don't think this is rocket science. The Mavs get a year of service from Odom, decline his option next year, and sign Williams outright if he's serious about leaving NJ

They also could sign Paul if he finishes the year with the Hornets. Stern F'd up with that trade. Also it seems like Cuban is the best friend of other large market owners and they may all win.

The Lakers gave away Odom for just a trade exception?!?! Why couldn't we have gotten involved in that?

Because Lamar Odom is an overpaid scrub who isn't going to take anywhere but LA seriously and he makes ten million a year. The money wouldn't match up for the Knicks here.

Lakers are taking some serious risks here. If they don't get Howard they'll look like complete idiots.
Orlando may ship Howard to NJ or Clippers or other places. Bynum may not be that attractive an offer, Pau is soft.

They ended the season with some major locker room issues. I don't remember what exactly but was Odom a problem?

did you hear odom on the radio interview after the hornets trade fell apart? guy sounded like he was crying. he then showed up to training camp 2 hours late, went straight to talk to mitch kupchack, and then went home.

lakers had to deal this guy. he is emotionally fragile and was not going to be checked in.

lakers can turn around and use that exception on someone else.

does this put them out of Dalembert sweepstakes? At the very least the 1 year deal should be gone.
Look's like Samuel Dalembert want's to get as much money as he can, I am petrified of these kind of players that could do pull a Jerome James.

in the end OhDumb was "offended" and wanted out. Pau was very professional about the deal and seemingly was great about it. Its been written new lakes would have a smaller role than Jax asked him.

Dude sounded very emotional.

I don't know what Odom's emotional issues are. Clearly not bein met by Khloey.
But the Lakers had the best front court in business and had three players that could have played together for a few more years. KObe plus a three headed monster >>> Kobe plus Dwight Howard.

They will still win lots of games but if they fall in the playoffs the fingerpointing will be fun to watch.

The Knicks now have the three headed monster. Now let's go hunt us some little green men.

Why did LA deal him to Dallas? How is it that there were no other teams particularly in the Eastern Conference, or at least non-playoff... that were will/able to do the same offer?

Odom's a pretty good player. Trading him to the team that just won it all - in the same conference?!

LA is desperate. But instead of keeping the core intact they are doing what we do. They are strap hiking, but also taking a big risk to do so. If they trade Pau for Dwight, Bynum is redundant and they will see a drop in scoring. RonRon isn't what he used to be, I don't really see how they will improve.

Does anyone understand what LA is doing this offseason? The trade they had in place for Chris Paul was, I believe, really bad for them. And now they trade Odom for a protected 1st and a trade exemption; one that doesn't apparently help their chances of getting Dwight. I just don't get it.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
