I saw on NBA fastbreak on espn2 that Wallace could still land in New York before the trade deadline in a 3-team deal involving Denver. Main players involved would be Kurt Thomas going to Denver, Rodney White going to Atlanta, and Wallace coming to New York. Sounds good to me. Thoughts?

BTW, If you find a link, post it.

There would have to be several more players involved to make a deal like that work...

White gets small money

KT gets mid-money

Sheed gets BIG money...

The money from each team (NY & DEN) would have to match Sheed's $17 Million.

Core,

I dont understand how these 3 team trades work. What do you mean that both NY and Den have to match sheeds money? Denver is under the cap can that be put into the deal to make it work?

Good trade. NYBocker... nuff props for the effort...

The only sticking point is Atlanta. They'd have to take on some garbage players whose contracts are not soon to expire. The stats look good for them though. I just doubt they would have the room to accomodate that amount of players on their roster...

Marcus Camby may have to be sent to ATL to make it more balanced. Then some of those filler players would not be necessary:

Atlanta trades:
SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 37.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives:
SF Shandon Anderson (7.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.4 apg in 24.3 minutes)
C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 24.2 minutes)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)
C Marcus Camby (8.0 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.6 apg in 28.2 minutes)
PF Mark Pope (0.0 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 3.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook:
+9.3 ppg, +14.8 rpg, and +3.0 apg.

New York trades:
SF Shandon Anderson (7.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.4 apg in 24.3 minutes)
C Kurt Thomas (11.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 32.4 minutes)
C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 24.2 minutes)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)
New York receives:
SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 45 games)
Change in team outlook:
-13.0 ppg, -12.8 rpg, and -3.3 apg.

Denver trades:
C Marcus Camby (8.0 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.6 apg in 28.2 minutes)
PF Mark Pope (0.0 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 3.0 minutes)
Denver receives:
C Kurt Thomas (11.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 52 games)
Change in team outlook: +3.7 ppg, -2.0 rpg, and +0.3 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED
Trade ID number 1520556

Not really a bad deal...

I Like the sound of that... Good post. I forgot to check the NY Times...

Oh yeah... I liked this part in particular:

The Hawks are is actively trying to move Wallace a week after acquiring him in a multiplayer trade. Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent, was at Madison Square Garden last night to see another client, Allan Houston, and to speak with Thomas.

Strickland confirmed Wallace's strong interest in playing in New York. "Our preference is to make that now, before the deadline, but Rasheed would be willing to explore the option of a midlevel exception this summer," Strickland said.

Isiah is definitely on some No-Doz working his azz off to make this team better.

I wasnt able to see that nyt link, dont want to register.

but even though i hate wallace's punk, crybaby nature, id definately trade kt for him. if we had to throw in deke?no problem--mohammed can step right in with no loss there. even frank williams?well we have marbury so pg is no problem, though id like to get our 2nd rounder back.

ALL THE TRADE PROSPECTS LOOK GOOD. BUT U GUYS FAIL TO REALIZE THAT ATLANTA ONLY WANTS EXPIRING CONTRACTS. WHY WOULD THEY TAKE ON A BIG CONTRAVCT LIKE DIKEMBE'S OR SHANDONS WHEN THEIR CONTRATCS ARENT EXPIRING THEY MIGHT AS WELL HAVE KEPT THEO RATLIFF AND SHAREEF ABDUR RAHEEM ? IT ALL SOUND COULD BUT IT WONT HAPPEN THAT WAY.

Yeah why would Atlanta want non expiring contracts unless its a prospect. Here's a trade that would work if Utah agrees to take on the salary. I cant imagine who they think they will sign, but this really only adds about 11Mil to their Cap next year and they will still have alot of money open to go for Steve Nash. Plus they get a solid power forward, a veteran in Shandon who thrived there, and FranK Williams who will start there right away.

New York trades:

SF Shandon Anderson (7.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.4 apg in 24.3 minutes)
C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 24.2 minutes)
PF Othella Harrington (4.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.6 apg in 15.9 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (1.8 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.1 apg in 5.6 minutes)
C Cezary Trybanski (0.2 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 2.6 minutes)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 12.9 minutes)

New York receives:

SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 37.2 minutes)

Atlanta trades:

SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.5 apg in 37.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives:

PF Mike Sweetney (1.8 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.1 apg in 15 games)
SF Ron Mercer (5.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 35 games)
PF Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 2 games)
PF Jarron Collins (5.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 52 games)
(All expiring and Sweetney is young)

San Antonio trades:

SF Ron Mercer (5.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 13.8 minutes)

San Antonio receives:

C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.4 apg in 53 games)
C Cezary Trybanski (0.2 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.0 apg in 5 games)

Utah trades:

PF Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
PF Jarron Collins (5.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.6 minutes)

Utah receives:

SF Shandon Anderson (7.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.4 apg in 52 games)
PF Othella Harrington (4.8 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.6 apg in 42 games)
PG Frank Williams (4.3 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.1 apg in 46 games)

Since we are signing Vin Baker, he will be the 4th big man off the bench unless we can claim Doleac who I'd rather have.

And we also get to keep Kurt Thomas which to me is very important.

Read the CBA rules- Sheed is the only player who can be traded from Atlanta for the trade exception the Hawks are invoking to be valid.

Considering Sheed's salary, we would have to make room to incorporate that into our cap. The rules are more relaxed when teams that are under the cap are involved. The salary matching is not as necessarily specific.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Espn Reports:

A source told the Times that the Knicks would have to offer Kurt Thomas, Othella Harrington, Dikembe Mutombo and another player, perhaps Mike Sweetney or Frank Williams, in order to work a trade for Wallace.

While I think KT needs to be upgraded and that deke is too old and basicaly worthless. This is giving up way too much for just wallace. Especially since we can get him over the summer for "free".
