http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/7333659/david-stern-blocking-chris-paul-trade-mistake-outrageous-proportion

"If Chris Paul doesn't get traded," said one source close to the Paul talks, "and if he ends up losing $30 million or $40 million in free agency because he wants to sign with someone else, I think he might have the biggest lawsuit the league has ever seen."

CP3 plays whole season in NO, then signs MLE deal with KNicks while sueing NBA for $50mm

Sure... it could happen

That is total ****. He could resign with NO and make that money.

He has no legal damage financially. THis was about him getting his money in LA vs. No.

Thus, if he wants the money, he can stay.

He has no financial loss issue.

He did nothing wrong and the league should never have let the trade go as far as it did.

There will be a trade in some form in my opinion.

NOLA sold over 10,000 season tickets expecting to see its marquee player or one in its place.

I keep telling you guys this is all about "Star" attractions. CP3 can get off his ass ans go play anywhere he wants to a team that will have him AFTER the season. NOLA can sign players to fill his salary void. I think either they get a player or a Deron Williams type deal with a good player like Favors and some no. 1 picks. Not that collection of players that they were to get.

CP3 has no legal standing on finacial loss. The CBA clearly states what his choices are and what contract ramifications are to gain freedom.

That is not realistic, just cause he can sue for $50 million, doesn't mean he will sign as cheap as the MLE.
At the very least he can earn 12-13million on many talented teams and rosters.

1)Only chance of us acquiring talent like that is to restructure out deals with Amare, Melo, and even Tyson Chandler and give them back a 1 year extension, to make up for it.

2)Any contract's we obtain from Turiaf, must be off the books by FA of next summer.

3)We might only be able to keep 1 or 2 contracts at the very best, in our young guns, as they aren't too expensive, Shumpert, TD, and Jorts.
Everyone else + whatever we sign this year, must be moved by FA. If it really is Mogov and Fields, we would have to move them as well. And if it's Harrington, we would have to package him with our young guns to team looking to rebuild.

I never thought the CP3 trade was good for NO in the first place. Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Lamar Kardashian, make 30 million dollars. That and some picks is not good value for CP3 imho.

BUt maybe its the best offer he heard, I can't say. If I'm NO I want young players, picks and cap relief. The proposed trade didn't make them better and didn't give them cap relief, I don't see why I would do it. Somebody would have to take OK4 too.

HOU, LAL and NOH have returned to discussing a trade according to multiple sources.

would be nice to see the Lakers give up Bynum in the deal. at least that would be the young talent portion of the superstar trade. right? you usually get 2 of 3 things (young talent, picks, cap relief). if the hornets get Bynum and picks, then it's closer to fair.
