I guess he is still butthurt.

Commissioner,

It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.

This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Dan G.

There's no way that could possibly be real.. That is absolutely hilarious. I'm disappointed he didn't predict the Hornets to win the title before the Lakers

I think Gilbert is right. The Lakers would get away with saving 40 mil plus getting CP3?? No no bad deal for the league.
We can get CP3 if Amare , Mello and Chandler re-work their contracts. Let's say Melo gives up 2.5 mil Amare 2.5 mil and Chandler 1.5 mil. Plus the mid level pay and we could be enough for CP3.

this whole debacle proves that the lockout was fruitless and solved none of the real problems. real problem: the star players want to move to marquee franchises and/or big markets, of which there are like 5 or 6 total.

sucks for the hornets. dell demps made a move abiding by all the rules and got vetoed by a bunch of sh!thead hardline owners who felt embarrassed that their whole lockout power play was exposed as posturing too quickly.

When I was blasting the Owners during the lockout, I brought up the fact that they held on to the Hornets when in fact they could've sold the team to buyers who want to purchase the team. I said this was going to be a problem going forward and I was angry at the hypocritical position of the owners overall. This is the kind of thing that I was talking about. This is why I wasn't happy about the fact that the league has held on to the team for 2 years now. WHY? You can't tell me that there are no buyers. There are ALWAYS buyers looking to get into the NBA. If the NOH has a proper ownership this kind of crap couldn't happen. They've been blocking purchase just for this kind of action.

I disagree- the Lakers lost their PF AND Odom- they lost a lot, it was a fair trade for them- a team of Kobe, CP3 and injury prone Bynum is not a guaranteed championship team- they have no depth at all.

But they are working on false reasoning. At the end of the day, small market teams can draft a star. if they then surround that star player with great talent over the following years, the star stays with them. if they suck and end up like the Hornets roster, or the Cavs roster, or the Magic's roster, then the star player leaves. thats fair- just like if a star player decline the team ditches them (Roy), so the star player ditches their declining team- there is nothing wrong with that at all. It's the victim mentality that these owners have that is the problem- they need to accept more responsibility.

Yeah but they still saved a lot of money in the long run.

And a Bynum injury away from having no frontcourt.

This is ****ing absurd already with this guy. The reason Lebron left Cleveland for another small market in Miami was because the rest of the Cavs team sucked around him. The reason CP wants to leave NOLA is because the rest of the team sucks around him. The reason Dwight wants to leave Orlando is because the rest of the team is mediocre around him. If these teams would finally hire some competent management to surround their star players with, then they wouldn't have such a difficult time keeping their players.

asking LAL to pay what NJ and NY did in their Melo/Deron trades is fair. Multiple first rounders +
