RealGM says he's a unsigned draft pick from 1999, but he is on our roster on RealGM

He's the 7 foot guy Vince Carter jumped over in the Olympics. Never came to the Knicks. I forgot who drafted him, but I think they picked him over Ron Artest

The Knicks drafted him in 1999 over Ron Artest and he has refused to play for the Knicks since then but they still own his rights....Vince Carter also jumped over him in the 2000 Olimpyics

I read somewhere back in those days that he did'nt come because he wanted a guaranteed contract without even working out for the team.
Looked like to me at the time like he wanted a free ride with nice bucks$$$... I'd give a link.. but this was years ago...

It's funny how Weis' name always comes up...every year.

Frederic Weis was drafted by Ed Tapscott, who at the time was Interim GM after Bumfeld got chopped. That bastard drated that trash Weis and passed up on Ron Artest.

Just when I figured he'd never get a power job in the NBA EVER again, guess who got the job as prez of the new expansion Bobcats?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Everytime I hear that name Tapscott I get upset. I can't believe he passed on Artest. I remember when they announced Frederick Weis and everyone was like, who? He was no where on the radar screen. One of the worst picks in New York sports history!

that doesn't make sense.....I thought if you were drafted in the first you DO get a guaranteed contract.

Your right on the guarantee.. but it might have some kind of provision that Weiss did'nt adheer to.. But I am really not sure..
I did read that somewhere though.. I'll try to dig something up on this...

Wow, I first thought this was one of the dumbest threads ever, than, out of nowhere, a post from sandiegoknick. sandiegoknick, the long-time lurker and only sometime poster and GamePicker extraordinaire. Holy cow.

Everytime I think of Tapscott I wish it caught the better end of a NJ transit train.

What a stupid ass that guy was.
