well....all three really, but if you had to choose. Personally, I would carve out about 10M for a good center and then use the rest plus the exceptions to fill out the team.
C - Defensive big man who can give you a dbl/dbl
PG - Good ball distributor
SG - someone with outside pop and can also guard the wing

We need CP3. We will get CP3. Someone who can grab rebounds for us and do a little defense on DH is just a bonus. Well, maybe not the rebounds part. We will need rebounds for sure. I am just not sold on needing a quality center when we have the best PG in the game(think MDA) in our pocket.

We want CP3. We NEED a center. How can you not be sold on needing a quality center when our PF can go down any minute? We need Amar'e playing his natural position. We need a solid center.

We need BOTH Howard and CP3. It's not an either/or. If I had to pick one I'd say Howard, though.

"Mos' definitely" Give me a defensive center who can give me the bunnies instead of flubbing. Stat can help PE coach him up and when CB expires it leaves cap space if he can't take the team deep or turn up the Heat. As long as Stat's healthy you have to hope Superman could see the up side to playing the (newly remodeled) Garden?

We need a center first. Jury is still out on Billups. I think Fields is a fine starting SG now and in the future, but a backup SG like Anthony Parker could be useful.

The Knicks need a center other than Turiaf and Jeffries. They have three point guards and it is a lot easier to find a 1-2 that can shoot than it is to find a good big man in my opinion.

We need a PG and a C. A 2 would also be good.

Aaron Gray, Jeff Foster, and Kwame Brown would all be upgrades to start at center. I really hope we can get one of them.

A center is needed the most but we need a PG too. The problem is people are confusing our need for a PG with their desire for an all star PG. We do not need an all star PG. If we are going to have all stars at other positions that tend to play a lot of one on one, we just need someone who can get the ball in their hands and that guy also has to be able to shoot a little and obviously play some defense. Who? I don't know, but we don't need CP3.

Lets put it this way, we need a shooting guard just as much as a PG... I'm hoping and praying that Fields and Shumpert can fill that 2guard role because I really like them both and they got some impressive skills and work ethics.

Is there anyone out there who has seen Alexis Ajinca play consistent minutes anywhere? We're looking at him hard, according to this article: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/knicks_target_toronto_big_n7q7ZpIrc2JIOOfr9vjdIO?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=
I would prefer that they just bring in Jordan if they want to add a center project to the roster.

We need a Center - Eddy Curry is available. We need a Point Guard - we could probably do a deal to get him back from China - and we need a combination coach/gm with a special gift to get through to these guys. See where I'm going with this?

CP3 is ours. It will do us no good to deny that. Now, with that in mind, anyone who can play D at the two ( shumpert being a perfect fit) is all we need there. With CP3, Melo and Stat our scoring is covered. Why am I not sold on needing a quality center? Because there are only enough of them in the NBA to count with one hand. And none of them are attainable. Forget DH and his lame wishes for warm weather. If we can get a solid center , we'll be set. Someone who can grab boards and play some d(no, Jeffries Dont Count). That's a wrap. Even now, we have backups galore at PF and C. Just need a solid, serviceable starting C.

I agree with this make up, I can't say CP3 is ours. I have no idea. Bit the above would be true with him or Deron. Best outcome is CP3 plays out the season and comes here in 2012. Melo can pull a Wade a recruit him. Cp3 can take his talents to Manhattan.

Interesting, 18 votes for a Center and 4 votes for a PG.

I voted for a center...would spend 7-10 M on a quality big man and use any remaining cap space on depth.

DeMarcus Cousins, Sacramento Kings – $3.9 million – Team Option ($4.9 million)

Emeka Okafor, New Orleans Hornets – $13.5 million – Early Termination Option ($14.5 million)
Andris Biedrins, Golden State Warriors – $9.0 million – Early Termination Option ($9.0 million)
Tiago Splitter, San Antonio Spurs – $3.9 million – Unrestricted*
Zaza Pachulia, Atlanta Hawks – $5.3 million – Unrestricted
Brad Miller, Minnesota Timberwolves – $5.1 million – Unrestricted

Johan Petro, New Jersey Nets – $3.5 million – Unrestricted
Dexter Pittman, Miami HEAT – $0.9 million – Unrestricted*
Byron Mullens, Oklahoma City Thunder – $2.3 million – Restricted ($3.3 million Qualifying Offer)

We have no shot at any center worth making a priority.
