Redd, an unrestricted free agent, is a cinch to join another team when the signing period begins Dec. 9. Redd, who has had two major knee surgeries in recent years, is drawing keen interest from a slew of teams, including some NBA-title contenders.

According to some league officials, Chicago, Boston, New York and Miami all have Redd on their radar.

I would love Redd for the full MLE.

Boston he'd have to play behind Ray Allen and Pierce.
Miami he would essentially be taking the Mike Miller role, and he'd pay no state income tax on his contract.
The Bulls he would start and probably be featured. He is from Columbus Ohio and played at Ohio State, so he may want to return to the Midwest.

Knicks can offer him probably the most minutes of the 4, and wide open 3s all day long.

If he's recovered from the knee injuries, this guy is a legit threat from 3. Has my vote

i agree. you can sell that to him too. 1 year for the full MLE and prove that you can stay healthy and drain 3s, and you can make a lot of money on the market next year.

Why are we giving Redd the full MLE? Did I miss something?

Veterans minimum is all he deserves at this point.

wouldn't help our defense one bit though. Not that I would have a problem with him coming off our bench.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Fields, Shumpert, TD, Billups. They can all play SG.

Billups cannot play SG any longer and shouldn't anyway.

Douglas is undersized for the position.

Shumpert is unproven.

Fields struggled after the Carmelo trade last year.

I would personally prefer Grant Hill but a low risk, high reward signing like Redd for the minimum is welcomed.

to what end? Knicks need to get those young guy minutes. If we were a shoe in for semi-finals, maybe I would consider it, but the Knicks are not, so you waste a year of development for those guys. Hill is not our future and doesn't fill a real need.

Our need is every position that isn't a SF or PF.

you have no idea what we have in Shump and year #2 on Fields and a year without injury from TD, and you already want to take away their minutes for a 39 year old and a guy who decidedly does not play defense.

Our biggest need is bigs, rebounding. Those should be addressed first.

Agree or disagree with a midseason trade, NY wants to get Paul here ASAP. If NO is desperate enough to accept an offer from us, look for any or all of the above to be on their way out.

Toney Douglas is the same player he has always been, injury or not. He has not improved at all from his rookie year.

I don't care if Hill is 50. He can play and I welcome any player who can come to this team and bring defense, team play, and professionalism to the team.

Chances are Douglas, Shumpert and Fields wont be here anyway next year if we're really serious about Paul so I'm not losing any sleep over their lack of development. I am ready to start trying to win.

Bigs, rebounding...no doubt that is the biggest need but there is very little on the market and we will most likely end up with Jeffries or Turiaf as the starting center once again. D'Antoni wouldn't have it any other way.

Besides that glaring need, any improvements that can be made to any position on the roster should be done so. We are in no position to be picky.

who play's D? You need Dwight Howard and Hakeem in him prime with that lineup.

He would be a great shooter off the bench.

Yeah. I think part of the reason the Denver was willing to give up Billups is that he's no effective against the quicker point guards in the league anymore. Billups is kinda like Kidd at this point. He's probably more effective using his strength and experience guarding shooting guards than point guards at this point in his career. As for Redd, I'm not comfortable pencilling in a guy who's played a total of 61 games in the past three years as a starter. Redd wasn't even a good defensive player in his prime. I can't imagine how bad he is now after multiple knee injuries.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

Not worth the full MLE, but he is a great shooter for MDA's system if he'll come cheaper and for maximum of 1 year.
