These are two players the Knicks are targeting, and they would be absolutely perfect. Both fill huge needs for this team this season. If we were to get both for one-year deals it would be the perfect off-season for us at this point. Hill is the perfect 6th man and Foster could probably start at center, although he will only play 15-20 mins per game, but would have Turiaf, Jordan, and Jeffries all to back him up. It would be a solid center-by-committee team for the time being. I'm ready to go to war with this group.

C Foster, Turiaf, Jordan
PF Stoudemire, Jeffries
SF Anthony, Hill
SG Fields, Shumpert, Walker
PG Billups, Douglas, Rautins

Then next summer we will either get Paul, or as a backup plan: Nash to replace Billups and Camby to replace Turiaf. Great plan!

All we need to round out that roster is Antonio McDyess and Kurt Thomas.
Maybe we can lure Manute Bol out of the grave...

Please don't... I live in Africa and the consequences would be difficult to oversee

I *definitely* want to see Grant Hill in a Knicks uni.

Unsure about Foster but he's a lunchpail big and that's what the Knicks need. He's not the biggest guy though and if his limited athleticism dips any more he's done. He'd sign a one year though... I don't have a problem with the organization rolling the dice on him

This is what teams trying to contend do. Get vets on the cheap. Nothing wrong with it.

Good plan. Not sure about Foster, bu Hill's a no-brainer. If he'll sign for one year, we do it.

marc berman said we reached out to Chuck Hayes with the mid level 1 year but got shut down. sad about that because I think he woulda been an unorthodox but perfect fit here. happy that we finally get to see what Stat and Melo can do with a training camp and 66 games together.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I like Foster over Turiaf. Better rebounder/defender & Taller but just as injury prone

the lack of love jeff foster gets is really astounding. he's one of the more efficient rebounders in the League and for the price, he'd be one of the biggest bargains.

last year's leaders in rebounding rate:
1) reggie evans - 25.6
2) marcus camby - 24.1
3) kevin love - 23.6
4) kris humphries - 22.1
5) dwight howard - 21.8
6) joey dorsey - 21.6
7) jeff foster - 20.7

rebounding rate measures the percentage of rebounds a player gets when he's on the floor. foster had a higher rate than guys like zach randolph, tyson chandler, and sam dalembert.

his 3.9 offensive rebounds per game would put him 4th in the league if he qualified for the minutes played mark.

plus he's 6'11 and can guard Centers.

as a reminder, knicks were among the worst rebounding teams in the NBA, 28th in rebounding rate, 28th in rebounding differential per game (on average out rebounded by 3.5 every game).

no matter what way you cut it, rebounding and defending bigs were the two biggest issues for the knicks. foster addresses both of those. in fact, i'd rather have foster than grant hill.

I would be happy with both those guys, but my target this off season is to bring Kurt back. He filled in well for the Bulls last season.

I love Hill for this veteran presence, but I don't want him on the team. He's a SF who sometimes plays a big SG role. Derrick Brown, Landry Fields, Iman Shumpert, Shawne Williams, Melo. Those are the guys I want to see get minutes at the SF/SG position.

Would love Foster on the team.

I agree with Martin. Other than being a nice mentor to the youngins, including Melo, Grant Hill doesn't serve too much of a purpose to this team. We need to give minutes to Shumpert and start developing him. He seems like he has a high ceiling.

One advantage of Kurt and Grant is thatthey played for MDA before, so they're familiar with the system.

If anything I would sign Foster & Kurt so we don't have to see Turiaf & Jeffries ever play center again

Those guys will play center regardless. It's the D'Antoni way.

We don't need Hill? Grant Hill would be the best SG on the team if he was signed. Who would you rather have in the rotation? Douglas?

Any FA signings should be the redwood variety. 6'10" or taller.
