The more I think about it, the more I want to sign him for a one year deal if he gets amnestied.

This is a major low risk/high reward signing if it works out. And if it doesn't you have capable players in Fields or Shumpert to take his spot in the lineup/rotation.

I just feel that even though he pretty much has no knees and is a big time risk to depend on to be healthy for a full season, he also has too much talent left to simply not give him a chance.

I hope the Knicks brass feel this way.

Would be nice but no way we get him. Teams with cap space have the first crack at amnesty cuts. He will be one of the first signed.

I like Roy, but the last thing we need is another wing player. I would take a look at him after we're able to get a decent, veteran center or two.

Roy would be great on a short deal, but I think other teams will risk 2+ years on him. We can't afford that if we are serious about CP3 or Deron.

If there was a way to get him for 1 yr cheap it's a no brainier. However, given the same option for Oden I'd rather take him. That's what we need.

We're not signing any capable starting centers. There aren't many on the market and the ones that are available aren't taking one year deals.

There are a lot of guys out there. Someone is gonna fall thru the cracks. Most likely someone old. I think you underestimate just how many players are available in this FA market. It's a huge list of guys and not all of them will find a home. We'll see what shakes loose from this bunch.

I prefer Grant Hill to Brandon Roy. Roy's upside appeals, but his inability and unwillingness to be anything but The Number One Option deters

As for a center, I'd look at Aaron Gray. He's an above average low post scorer. I know that's not what the team needs out of the position, but at a low pricetag, it' snice to get a guy who can contribute something. Kwame Brown might be necessary because of his size and that he can give 20mpg

Kwame would be my #1 target, he's relatively cheap and is a solid player.

Kwame Brown is awful...he's on the same level as Jeffries. Putting up decent stats on bad team doesn't change that.

Shorter season will likely make play more intense, we'll need players that are fit.

i'd take biedrins in a heartbeat.

would love to add carl landry as well, but that's probably a pipe dream. i think a capable PF backup to amar'e is a huge key. landry would be that, he could fill amar'e's role in the pick and roll stuff well.

don't believe b roy will be amnestied, and if he were, he'd be bid on immediately. only teams with cap room can bid - if no teams bid THEN he becomes a free agent. i've heard roy will be waived in 2012, if at all, because then portland would actually get cap room to replace him.

Just because a higher calibur of center wouldn't take a one year deal does not imply that the position should go unadressed

Kwame Brown is a lot better than Jeffries, and a true center. Either him or Aaron Gray is our best bet.
