One thing to be an assassin like Kobe and Mike.

The "Smileing Assassin" needs a man to forge a persona of winning.

If we gonna "Starphuch" lets do this the right way.

Cap space at seasons end and sign Phil Jax to figure out what he wants. Give him the front office and anything else he wants.

Bring this man back and let him come full circle. He breaks the curse. Be brings back honor!

Kobe was a whiney prima donna before Jax. Mike was a surley high scorer out for himself before Jax.

I don't know if we need 3 stars, Jax had it down with two in good health and the RIGHT ROLE PLAYERS.

Nothing new here to report.

If that is not to be, then extend MDA. This dead man coaching don't do anything for anyone.

Does This Open the Door Wider for Phil?
by Tommy Dee on November 29th, 2011 at 12:10 pm With the idea of Allan Houston possibly taking the reigns it is easy to speculate something we here have said all along.

Are the Knicks using their apparent front office vacancy to lure Phil Jackson out of retirement?

I say hell yes.

Think about it, fans who don’t support Chris Paul coming to NY because of the Miami Heat situation and a lack of roster balance can point to coaching first and foremost. In fact, everyone did during their “losing streak” from last year.

Imagine Phil Jackson with the Knicks big 3? It may be Paul, it may be Deron Williams. Whoever it is it seems like someone because that’s the direction they are clearly going in.

I’m sure Phil is thinking about it along with the ability to have discussions and power regarding roster decisions. It’s his style to take over a team with supreme talent.

This is something we’ll be talking about all season long. And for those who think Phil is done coaching it will be very hard for him to pass on the job he’s always wanted. Red Holzman is his coaching idol and pain or not the man isn’t 80 years old.

I’d hire an ex-Knick to sit on the bench with him as well. Ewing? Maybe Derek Harper?

Oh yes. I see Lil' JimmieSprinkles definitely doing that. And can't you just see Jax taking calls from IT during draft day?

Such things are what dreams are made of.

Since when did Phil want to coach the Knicks. He turned us down twice as far as I remember. Besides, the man is a thousand years old. Can we at least go after Jeff Van Gundy if we are done with Mike?

I think Phil is merely recharging. People have to understand how tough it is to be in the finals and playoffs year after year. It's a grind. At his age he needs a break to recharge and have the mental energy to do what he does. My guess is that he will come back for one more coaching job. He'll have multiple options simply because of who he is and the fact that every year some great teams won't make the finals. Could be Chicago, OKC or NY. No coach is safe if Phil wants to come back. That's just the reality of the situation. Doesn't matter if MDA goes all the way to the ECF's. If Phil enters his name in the mix, it's his job to have. I really believe in MDA, but Jax trumps all coaches in the NBA.

The only problem is whether Phil thinks the Knicks are close enough for him to return. Even after a deal for CP3 the team could need another year or 2 to build up to championship level. He might prefer Chicago's situation. Tough call.

I think Phil Jackson would only come out of retirement if we add Dwight Howard, give him power, and another super contract. He can then use the triangle like he did with Kobe/Shaq with Melo/Dwight. Also, Shumpert will probably have to show he is a rising star. He can be play a Pippen/Ron Harper kind of role. Honestly, though, if Dwight and Phil comes next year, you can be sure plenty of veterans will be willing to come with a low price tag...

A new legacy will be born!

Unfortunately this will never happen. The only way Howard would come IMO is if Phil is already here and convinces him this is the place for him. The catch 22 is that the same goes for Phil. He likely won't come unless we had Howard. So this never happens.

We don't need Phil to win a title. It would be nice to have him, but teams can win a title without Phil Jackson. Give just about any coach Kobe, Shaq, Pau, Jordan and Pippen with tons of great role players and they can win titles too. The Triangle doesn't work with scrubs!!!
