I'm just trying to understand the schedule. Do the regular season games start on the 25th with no preseason? That seems crazy. You'd think they'd have even just a 2 or 4 game preseason. There's going to be lots of injuries from players who aren't ready.

There's no friggin way that they should have 66 game season. This should be a light workload where they focus on product development and deliver high quality. Both sides are money grubbing whores though

Yeah, I guess you're right. 0 preseason, 66 regular season = more money than 4 preseason, 62 regular season games. And it's definitely more money than something that would be more reasonable like 4 preseason, 50 regular season games. It is a gamble, though. If key players like Lebron and Dwight get season-ending injuries early because their bodies weren't ready, that would really hurt the league.

As far as the economics go, I'm willing to be that this short term dash for the cash thinking blows up in their faces.

Last season was awesome, especially during the playoffs. Really a great season that turned a lot of casual fans onto the game. I'm willing to bet they won't watch a game where both sides are jogging the whole game, jack up jumpshots, and shoot under 40 percent from the field. Not to mention, as you said, you run the risk of injury. If LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, and Amar'e Stoudemire sit out of the first round casual fans won't tune in. This has some backfire potential, and that $4 billion pie they were squabbling over could very well shrink a little

And not to mention not playing any D. Hmmm, sounds like why the player-organized games didn't exactly draw millions of viewers.

I believe they will play at least 2 pre-season games right before the start of the season like they did in 1999

MDA is going love this shortened season if teams play like that!
