Alan Hahn has refuted this story, but here it is:

Former President Of Knicks, Jazz Says Deal Reached Between Owners, Players
Nov 10, 2011 4:37 PM EST

Dave Checketts, former president of the Jazz and Knicks, said he hears the players and owners have reached agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Checketts was recently hired as a consultant to Tom Gores, new owner of the Pistons.

Newsday's Alan Hahn, reporting from where labor talks are ongoing, says a deal has not been struck from what he has heard.

yeah, and technically there would be no deal until the players and the owners all vote on it... though for all intents and purposes if they walk out the room with a framework for a done deal, i doubt it doesn't get approved by vote.

10 years? That would be awesome. We wouldn't have to deal with this for a long time.

They just don't want anyone to beat them to the announcement. I'd have to guess Dave heard something good from a legit source tho. They have to get something done. The 2 sides would lose all credibility if they failed to close the gap this time!

I think the owners side tend to be more optimistic about a deal being struck, while the union tends to be more pessimistic- same thing happened last week when stern seemed sure a deal was about to be done. So basically sources linked to the owners are the ones saying a deal is close, while those linked to the players are the ones saying no. Unfortunately the players are more likely to know the truth as the deal is theirs to refuse or accept.

There will be a lot of cheesed off people if a deal doesn't happen after checkers got everyone's hopes up, though

I reeeeeeeeeally hope they raise the age limit to 20. I'll be as happy an NBA fan as there is.

Out of all the possible issues, that is the one you care most deeply about?!

No, I care about quality of play... and that has all to do about the players getting college experience or at least Euro. experience... its a secondary issue, but important none the less.

I agree on the age limit. It not just increases quality of play but it also helps the players, maybe, in life if they don't make it to the NBA or even life after the NBA.
