This would be the 2nd player the nuggets are losing out to China.
He is an unrestricted Free Agent and will be able to sign with any team when he returns for the following season.

This Chinese Basketball business has got to start making heads turn on the owners side of the negotiating table.
Denver is Bleeding Assets as the weeks go on in the lockout.

Sounds to me like these players (Smith, Chandler, and previously Melo) have/had no interest in staying in Denver. Not sure what it is that turns them off, but not good for them.

As far as I know J.R. Smith didn't exactly have a great relationship with Karl and it seems that some that same dislike could've been there for Chandler and Melo.

Andre Miller is the highest paid Nugget at $7.8 million. Chandler's QO is $3.1 million. Can't imagine Smith would make much more than that in the new system. When you're making significantly less than Melo and Amar'e taking $2 mil or whatever to play in China for a year is good business. You might leave some money on the table, but it isn't a vast sum and you're guaranteed a million or two

Smith is unrestricted. 26 years old and in the prime of his career. This is not a question of him being a Nugget as much as the risk of getting hurt and never getting back in the NBA, and him being a bit of a head case. He had a good season last year in his contract year and no doubt has incredible talent.

3 million in China might be different if they are covering his costs but I don't know his tax status or what he has to pay an agent. If there is no NBA season thats one thing, but for him and Wilson to forgo a season might not make good sense.s

Does he fear not much interest when things start to heat up again?

He will be the best player in that league. What will he prove?

When he breaks his contract in China and moves back when the NBA season starts, he will prove that even dopey malcontents can start international incidents.

And beware the getting hurt outside the NBA argument. It has geopolitical/socioeconomic implications. Plus it might just get you labeled as an illiterate, unsophisticated, untraveled, right-wing facist isolationist psychopatriot.

Not that I mind. Beats being called "bitchy" during the Alba tourney

You really can't take perfect aim with a highpowered rifle unless you are completely at peace.
Inside and out.

Even at close range.

I can understand constipation, but the death threat is a little harsh.

AFAIK he will pay the tax earned based on foreign taxes and the money will be exempt from US taxes. My friend has a business in Romania and he told me that was how it worked for him for all the foreign money earned from his business.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Never underestimate the power of emotional injuries.

Dude, seriously, just kidding. I can barely chastise my dog, let alone kill anyone.

Peace.
