No way a caoch who is better than Jackson, SLoan and RIvers should ever be criticized. If it's all about talent than you'd have no problem if MDA was shown the door right?

Yeah i'm talking about MDA and Woodson too if he ever got to be headcoach here. Does it really matter who it is? This city chews them up and spits them out.Anyway. I'm apathetic to this hiring cuz I believe that it's not about the coaching as much as it is the talent a coach has to work with. You put D. Howard on this team and I could coach the defense!!! If we do in fact sign Dalembert or Pryz or Aaron Gray then I believe this team can improve.
You don't think talent leads to good offense or good defense? it's just all coaching?
I can't remember where I saw the stats (and don't really have time to look it up) but most all the really good defensive teams have very good bigs. It's kind of a prerequisite.
There's a reason that OKC wanted Perkins and why the Mavs wanted Chandler!!! I guarantee that if you look at the success of the Celtics and Lakers their great size was a huge factor.
I think nykshaknbake really missed the point of my post as so many do around here. If you want to make the biggest improvement on either side of the ball it ALWAYS starts with the talent. If you focus on lots of great defensive talent you'll most likely have a good defensive team and the same goes for Offense. What you want is a good balance!!! Now that doesn't mean that it has to be all on the defensive side as some seem to think defense wins titles, despite the fact that teams that were stronger on offense than defense have won titles too.
Look at the Mavs, they were 8th in offense and 8th in defense too! Basically they were the definition of balanced.
It's not true that only the best defense always wins the Title.
In 2009-10 Lakers were 11th in O and 3rd in D.
In 2008-09 Lakers were 3rd in O and 6th in D.
In 2007-08 Celtics were 10th in O and 1st in D.
In 2006-07 Spurs were 5th in O and 2nd in D.
In 2005-06 Heat were 7th in O and 9th in D.
in 2004-05 Spurs were 8th in O and 1st in D.
In 2003-04 Pistons were 18th in O and 2nd in D.
In 2002-03 Spurs were 7th in O and 3rd in D.
In 2001-02 Lakers were 2nd in O and 7th in D.
In 2000-01 Lakers were 2nd in O and 21st in D.
I'm not saying D isn't important so let's not start that crap. It's just that there are teams with less than the best defense that have won. Teams have won with better offense than defense too.
