Man it is hard not to get emotional wathcing his passion on the court during the highlights and then seeing how moved he was by being honored.

Interesting that whenever Rodman was respected, and recognized for being a good teammate and player he excelled. Chuck Daly and PJax were two of the four men he went out of his way to recognize as the most important male role models in his life. Coaches can make or break a player. I hope D'Antoni watched that speech. I don't know how Rodman would do with D'Antoni as his coach but my guess is that D'Antoni wouldn't be mentioned as one of the most important male role models in his life. I think some guys passed thru NY that could have benefitted from the guidance and acceptance that Rodman talked about.

Rodman made the HOF?! Has a player who appeared in only 2 all-star games ever made the HOF before?

Crush, Rodman won 5 rings.

Pjax is the winning coach of all time. Daly won two rings. These are winning men. HOF coaches. I think we all want to win!

Larry is a HOF coach. Isiah was a HOF player. Its been here, just not the players

Maybe Crush when we have HOF players who let coaches coach and win is when you create special bonds with coaches and players.

Bonnie, Rodman was a goofball off the court but he has 5 rings. When you start at power forward on five different championship teams your HOF status. His rebounding numbers were great! Im glad he made it in! Same for Artis Gilmore.

He started on three championship teams.........

But it's really hard to keep out a guy with rings/Multiple DPOY's/12'000 rebounds.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF but I was shocked when I logged in to the forum and saw that he was inducted. His rebounding numbers were off the charts. Still, if you're missing the all-star game almost every year that means there were always at least two players at your position in your conference who were better than you were.

+1. Come on, CrushAlot. Give us a break.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I definitely hear you... wasn't expecting his induction either

however, I do think what Anji posted warrants inclusion, especially when I considered him to be by far the best rebounder of when he played, and among the best defenders. I do think it is possible that his skillset is so unique that he was undervalued and upon reflection his achievements appear all the more outstanding

all star game is an exhibition game where the starters are fan voted in, why should that have validity towards HOF entrance? recall this isnt the nba HOF, you have folks who didnt play in the nba who will make it in.

I agree it was over the top. I was moved by the speech and should have focused in on the greatness of Jax and Daly.

Only 5 of the 12 all-stars are voted in by fans.

as i said, starters... still doesnt change that there are probably better ways to determine HOF credentials than a mid season exhibition game: mvp, playoff performances, all-nba credentials, dpoy, and for sure stats (avgs, totals, etc). of course this is excluding the women who get in, coaches, and non-nba players (and refs!!) who have and will get in. check out the class of 1995 or rodmans co-entrant Arvydas Sabonis. his best years were not in the nba (0 post season awards/1 post season team -- all rookie, 0 all star appearances). tom sanders fits that list too.

That was VERY interesting. Yeah, the last couple of minutes were more of a confession. His mannerisms are a little strange at times. I'm not sure if it's just because he was nervous and emotionally overcome or something else.

You're right. I just looked that up. He was a league MVP though.

Interesting enough Marbury was on his way to the hall even with his lack of individual awards. It was his "20 & 8" that could have done it.

Marbury put up some very impressive stats. However, his score was well below the site's cutoff of 135.
