http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/6004/knicks-best-fit-for-paul

As much as CP3 would like to play in New York -- and I'd like to see him battling for Gotham with his longtime rival and current Nets point guard Deron Williams -- the Knicks have no chance of adding him as a free agent with Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony already on the books.

I'm assuming he's talking about 2012.

Where's the math? cause I think the Knicks could add him as an UFA

My guess is that Bucher thinks the new CBA will make it near impossible for us to have 3 max guys

I'm not sure why that comment makes him a moron.

How did you figure this? Show us the math, because last time I saw, if nothing changed, we have no chance. Plus odds are, it will just get worse. Would totally welcome good news.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

2010-11 Salary Cap $58.044 million. The Knicks will have 41 mil in guaranteed contracts next summer. If the cap was the same that would leave almost 17 mil. I know that there are cap holds and such, so let's no get nuts. I think CP3 would have to accept less than what he's worth to make it happen. CP3's 2012 salary would be $17,779,457 on his current contract.

The NBA contract policy is a bit stiff. If teams where allowed to restructure existing contracts it would make moves easier to make and teams could build in a much easier way too. I don't know if the Knicks will really have a shot at CP3, but it would really be up to him to accept a smaller contract for the chance to win a title.

That's $41 million for three players. That's 9 cap holds, totaling I think about $5 million. That really only leaves $12 million or less for CP3, assuming we keep nobody else from the current roster, including Iman. I don't see how it's possible.

Intersting can team of 3 max players and 12 cup holds win 50% of the season games...?
Very unlikely...

LOL @ the cap being the same. The owners want to lower the cap. We cannot sign Chris Paul even with a $58 million cap. how would we do it with a cap that was less?

We can remove salary in a trade to free enough cap space. Or we can trade outright for CP3 using CBs deal plus filler.

Not saying it will happen (or should) but it's not a statistical impossibility.
