In fact, Lamb considered turning pro after his breakout freshman season.

“His family talked about it,” Calhoun said. “I told Rolando (Lamb’s father) it’s a real bad idea. Yes, he could have been a top-25 pick — the earliest I heard, definitely, was the Knicks — but most importantly, he was not ready mentally or physically. He has the chance to be a special player, whether it’s this year, next year, whenever it may be.”

Jeremy will be a fine player--I'd GREATLY prefer him to Shumpert--but I'm more interested in Doron Lamb. I'd say Jeremy is more complete but Doron can flat out stroke it. Could be a Steve Smith type of SG. Would've been thrilled if the Knicks landed either of the two though

Briggs is alive, nice to see you post. This is the only year I can remember that you didn't make any posts after the draft and give your 2cents about it. Since you didn't make posts here, I thought you were not satisfied with the pick.

I know Vucevic was high on your rador and a lot of us here wanted him. I thought Houston and Philly had a good chance to take him before us. He is a very skilled player and has legit size to be a NBA center and have enough skills to play power forward. He has good footwork, BB iq, great bloodline, and early knowledge from his father on dedication to becoming a pro.

How do you think he will develop in Philly vs in New York?
How do you feel and think about our pick, Shumpert? I personally had Shumpert as my 2nd pick behind Vucivec. I thought his skills and size would have meshed well with our core
and system. He would be a shooting threat which Dantoni's system needs 4 shooting threats to be fully executed. He also would have the size to be able to hold his own. He
can rebound and shows the ability to play solid defense. He can set nice screens and would be great to execute
the PnR with.

Only player I would probably pick besides Shumpert at 17 was Brooks. I think he can grow to be one of the top scoters in
this draft. Iman is currently one of the best lockdown defenders of the draft, that is why I wanted him. For all the Derrick Rose, Wade, Deron, and Walls, he can become our own Westbrook. The NBA has been ran by a new breed if PGs with size, athleticism, strength, and speed. Shumpert has the tools to help stop these players. I think we will still need a center to anchor our defense but if he can be become a lockdown defender it would be a luxury and step towards being a contender.
I think TD has the potential to be a great streaky 3 point specialist. He may never be a great decision maker but he is still improving and people forget how much he has improved already. I would love to keep him, being a part of our future. He has just started to gain confidence in his shot, if he spots up and squares up for a shot, I think it is a great shot. Can Iman become a good PG and let TD concentrate on squaring up and taking a good shot? At the very least I see TD being a 6th man type player and possibly even be our SG guarding PGs of our future. Can Iman become a starting PG guarding SGs? Both these players can learn a lot from Billups and has time to grow. They can both become a importance piece with another guard. I feel a nice 3 guard rotation that can play both ends and make these Rose and Wade caliber players work hard and exhaust them would be vital. Shumpert had the ability to also guard 3 positions, giving him minutes vs the Lebrons and Pierce's of the future. However, his advantage would be a the PG/SG with his size, strength, speed, and athleticism. I really think a player like Ariza would work great with Shumpert and TD. They can be our big 3 on the defensive end. They surely would be a nightmare for our opponents. If we can add a player like Dwight Howard, they would bring "defense" back to New York and a great chance at rings. Amare and Melo have the abilities to play decent defense but GREAT TEAM DEFENSE. Would adding veteran players like Nash, Resigned Billups, Ray Allen, and KG be unreal for the minimum next summer if we add Dwight? Would you think Ariza or Wilson Chandler, mesh better with that squad? Its very possible, we can trade our 2013 selection for them. Think we would have to wait till 2013 summer though. I would rather give another future 1st round pick to complete our roster if possible next summer. I honestly think it's very possible, landing Dwight wouldn't be easy though because with the addition of him would almost make any team favorites to win it all...

This lockout is going to allow a lot of folks to get re-acquainted with the college game. Looks like we'll have a few pleasant surprises.
