Who are the other free agents of interest to us beside Chris Paul, Deron, Dwight?

I've seen people talking about using our cap for several quality players instead of the big bang big 3 superstar boojaka, I'm interested in which combinations of free agents you think would complete a full contending team if we hypothetically say we went with going for several players?

I would personally be cool with getting a big and a guard, and maybe resign Billups at a cheap price and a chance for another championship run.

Guards in priority: Nash, Ray Allen, O.J. Mayo, Ramon Sessions I guess.

Bigs in priority: KG/DUNCAN, Hibbert, McGee, Brook Lopez/Kevin Love.

I have a hard time seeing Duncan, RayRay or KG leave. But maybe Boston cleans house? Duncan I don't see leaving.

Phoenix is no where near a championship. I would personally like to see Nash win a championship with us, and I think he's open to New York and the idea of reuniting with STAT and possibly MDA. Him and Billups could share the PG minutes 50/50ish. And it would be one helluva championship on behalf of the Knicks, Nash, Stat, Melo and like it or not even Mike D'Antoni. Defense would suffer tremendously with Nash though, but I like his offensive qualities too much to not want him.

Honestly, there's not a whole lot there outside of Howard/Williams/Paul, and I think that the Knicks can get one of those guys with cap space.

Billups can take a backseat to Nash, or he can bounce. I wouldn't re-sign him period just because of our cap situation.

I agree, especially because the NBA wouldn't trade Paul and deal with the endless accusations, and I don't think they'd sign him and expect the rest of the league to subsidize that either

that does assume that the new CBA doesn't completely screw a player over for changing teams

No season, then CP3 signs on the dotted line. Toast was bonafide.

I haven't watched CP3 play much at all lately, but don't you guys feel we would take a big risk by getting an other very expensive player that had major injuries in the past. We already have one in STAT, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the guy.

But if 2 of our top 3 players have injury issues, we'd be in huge trouble for the long haul...

The more talent you add the lighter the workload and this has a way of preserving players. He won't have to carry the team as he's had to in the past and that will save his career. Look how hard STAT had to play to keep this team in the playoff hunt. It's the kind of load that will wear a star out, but once you add more guys it gets easier. Melo will take more of the load being young and healthy.

If we don't get Paul, the major area summer 2012 will be centered around is the other PG options out there. Nash, Sessions, and Felton will be the major pieces the Knicks look to sign. Also, Kaman will be into consideration if they don't see Jerome Jordan as the long-term answer at center. Hopefully he pans out though and becomes a strong two-way center, averaging in the range of 10-12 points, 8-10 rebs, and 1.5-2 blocks per game in his prime.

He was without a doubt the best player on the court when the Hornets played the Lakers in the playoffs. There was no doubt. I was previously worried about his health until then but now? Nope. Worth the risk, especially because I think when he's at his best he's better than either Amar'e and Melo
