Basically pointing out that Williams would leave and they would have nothing to show for the trade.

interesting point.

also, by the same token, you'd think CP3 might just never go back to New Orleans again and wait outside the knicks training center for the start of the 2012-13 season.

So who would we want?

Cp3 or Deron?

And what about the draft? How does that play out?

Straight up Lottory of all 30 teams. And guess who ends up with No. 1?

in all fairness, i believe Donnie did get #1 protection on that 2012 pick to houston...

edit, it's top 5 protected:

Rockets receive the Knicks' 2012 first-round pick (top 5 protected in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, if not conveyed by 2015 then the Rockets will receive the Knicks 2015 and 2016 second-round picks) (Tracy McGrady trade 02-18-10)

interesting since apparently the nets are one of the hardest liners (ownership-wise) and supposedly are okay with cancelling the season entirely.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

Wow, what an interesting notion. I never even considered the lottery next year if the lockout eliminates the season. THat would be amazing if we land a top 5 pick. I'd take EITHER one of Deron or CP3. Deron may have a slight scoring edge and CP3 a slight assist edge, but they are equivalent stars. Maybe Deron would get the edge on no pre-existing injuries, but CP3 would get an edge on prior friendship with Melo and Stat, not to mention the good karma of finally bringing the wedding toast to fruition.

CP3 is the better player IMHO, but in a heads up competition I think Deron would overpower CP3. It's a tossup really.
Rose is not the answer.

The best-case scenario is that New York gets Dwight Howard instead of either of them. The worst case scenario is a franchise tag and we get nothing but cap space.

With CP3 vs Deron, you take Deron. They're about the same player, but Williams doesn't have the knee injury concerns that CP3 comes with.

I agree. Deron is a better scorer but i think Chris is the best distributor in the league which is exactly what the Knicks need.
