mildly funny I guess.

So, MSG sent out Media Release the night of the draft stating that the Knicks aquired the rights to Josh Harrellson. There was an obvious typo for his rebounding numbers, 4.7 instead of 8.7RPG, I can see a marketing type getting that wrong in a last minute type of rushed announcement. In the second sentence the number is correct.

KNICKS ACQUIRE DRAFT RIGHTS TO JOSH HARRELLSON

NEW YORK, June 23, 2011 – The New York Knickerbockers have acquired the draft rights to forward Josh Harrellson from New Orleans for cash considerations. The St. Charles, MO-native was selected in the second round (45th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Hornets.

Harrellson, 6-10, 275-pounds, averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 38 games during his senior season. He led the Southeastern Conference in field goal percentage (.611) and ranked second in rebounding (8.7).

The NY post must have read and used that first number:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/antoni_jorts_fills_need_gRGZLAn22f4kfrhSYGZCGK?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=

But Harrellson, the nasty 270-pounder who was suspended temporarily from Twitter after ripping Calipari, put together a solid senior season (7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds)

I guess I can understand the number slipping by the first article out... but the other ones too?

As expected, Walsh purchased a second-round pick -- No. 45 -- from New Orleans and drafted Kentucky center Josh Harrellson, a 6-10, 275-pounder who averaged 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds -- though he nearly doubled the scoring average in helping the Wildcats to the Final Four.

and again:

But Harrellson, the nasty 270-pounder who was suspended temporarily from Twitter after ripping Calipari, put together a solid senior season (7.6 points, 4.7 rebounds), and had an excellent NCAA Tournament in helping Kentucky reach the Final Four. The Knicks shelled out $750,000 to the NBA-owned Hornets for Harrellson, the 45th pick.

Do they even read the content to make sure it fits? how can 4.7 rebounds be correct for a college center?

oh, I forgot one:

He led the SEC in rebounding last season, averaging 7.6 per game. He gained additional fame by wearing jeans shorts, which garnered him the nickname "Jorts."

You can't believe everything you read in the papers......They should check the UK Forum if they want answers and more correct info.

Here's a link to Harrellson's 4 year stats at KY. He averaged 4.7 rebounds/game over his 4 years at KY.....But the more important figure is this past year, his junior year, he averaged 8.7 rebounds/game.

One article I read said he led the SEC in rebounding this past year. Yours above states he came in 2nd. Either way, he was an excellent rebounder and is what we need.
From Draft Express - he had 3.7 offensive rebounds/game + 5 def rebounds/game. I love those offensive rebounds.

ah perhaps that is it. 3 years vs last year.

Still, the 4.7 RPG number is useless considering his minutes in first 2 years. And for college kids, who puts out number for full career, it's all about the last year before they declare.

you know what, I take it back. the 4.7 number MSG and NY Post were referencing were just fat-fingered and coincidental to 3 year number.

You're right - that is why I did an edit and added this to my original post...

they've also been listing Iman Shumpert at 6'4", which is what he was listed at during his college career, but not the 6'6" he was listed at post-combine.

i mean it's nitpicky... but it is supposed to be their job.

yeah, the sentence specifically states they are his senior year numbers almost every time.

i guess they're only using that MSG press release to check their facts and nowhere else. maybe they don't have internet at the Post?

NY Post prob needs some new interns.

MSG got plenty to pick from, and Berman should be well aware of that with his Marbury connection
