"wait until next year......."
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/knicks_cap_conscious_nZWBS0DYZd6DORbq7ObprL?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=

I think we'll be better next year but two things.....

1. Argue and exist with MDA last year of contract drama and......

2. We'll keep cap room for another star....

since we are obviously not rebuilding in any fashion via the draft my only hope is when we starphuch we do it with purpose and that such players actually compliment each other.

I would say Dwight or CP3 do fit. Actually not quite sure about MElo and Amare blending together. I know they talk about making it work but we all know NBA players love to say what we want to hear.

Should be a good season.........Can't predict a thing given the incomplete roster but we have a decent core.

No miracles or 50 game expectations on this fellow...........Even a first round bounce would be ok if we have holes in the roster. Just no sweeps!

Extend MDA would aid in stability.

3 of the 5 best free agents of this decade will likely be available in 12 months. It's exciting.

I say no to extending MDA for the purpose of stability...If the recent playoffs has shown us anything is that defense is important in this league and he still hasn't shown the willingness to coach it...Frankly, it kind of scary hearing rumors of the Knicks still trying to acquire MDA type players like Jimmer and Nash...Knicks didn't have the pieces to play Boston but the call not to guard Rondo was just horrible...Talk of AC defying him to guard Rondo was enough for me...

He has to earn his extention...He hasn't yet...

Forget rumors, reality says we did draft a guard who can guard Rondo and other perimeter players who destroyed us. With that said, I'm not the biggest MDA fan either, but hopefully we are headed in the right direction, finally, in terms of more emphasis on the D.

I'll +1 this. Heck, I'd already be talking to Phil Jackson. In all seriousness, I like MDA, but he hasn't earned the extension yet. This is the year he has to perform.

So we build a culture, then tear it down with front office drama and the want of a new coach.......

Or........

keep the culture with internal hiring(S)......Extend the coach which solidifies the locker room and if willing add a defensive component (we did draft Shump)and I guess keep a spot open for the next great free agent.

We talking about Phil already?

My thought is that MDA would have to fail miserably this season for any change to occur.

So its better to fail, the team regress so we can starphuch into a new coach and new hope?

Knick can be precious!

What is D'Antoni's contract situation? I know his contract would expire after this coming season unless extended. (Remember when Dolan extended Isiah Thomas' contract because he had the Knicks in 8th place for, like, one day?)

I don't see why we wouldn't let him coach through the end of his contract, and maybe decide sometime next season whether he should be extended, based on his performance with this upgraded roster.

https:// It's not so hard.

i think this is exactly what you will see happen - him coaching through end of year before any type of contact talks are solidified.

Cuz what happens is if he does a really good job then we'll want him to stay, but just offer him a year or two, or he gets a big offer for 4 yeras elsewhere.

IM sure that makes some people happy but by then he would have shown a defense component to the team.

We'll see.....
