Jamaican seven-footer Jerome Jordan, who underwent surgery for a ruptured appendix three weeks ago, has told the New York Post that he is "ready to contribute to an NBA team".

Obtained from the New York Knicks by Milwaukee Bucks on draft night last year, the 24-year-old Jordan was loaned to Serbian team Hemofarm Stada where he ended last season as the top percentage two-point shooter in the Adriatic League.

Jordan is being cared forby his mother as he recovers from surgery on a ruptured appendix

A Jamaica College past student, Jordan shot at 73.5 per cent from the field, averaging 7.8 points and 15 minutes per game; while in the European League Cup, he was shooting 69 per cent at an average of seven points and 15 minutes per game.

Returning to the Knicks office next week, Jordan is eager to complement Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony up front when the new NBA season starts.
"Being drafted by this team in their situation, they need a big guy and I look forward to helping that need," he told The Post.

"Coming out of college last year, I thought I could play minutes right away. It worked out. I came over here (Serbia), got game experience and went up against more physical and skilled players than in college. I played against tough players over here and I'm ready to contribute to an NBA team," Jordan said.

Dubbed the "Jamaican Hurricane" while in college playing for Tulsa University, Jordan is being taken care by his mother as he recovers from surgery of a ruptured appendix.
"It almost killed him," his father Brian, who lives in Elletson Flats, said worriedly.

With a July 1 lockout expected to hit the NBA, Jordan will take all the rest he can get and a New York Post source indicated that the Knicks will not re-sign him until the lockout ends.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the NBA ends on June 30 and the owners will impose a lockout if a new deal cannot be reached by then.
Knicks team president Donnie Walsh told ESPN.com just over a week ago that when Jordan meets with the coaching staff, "we'll see where is at and where see where he is after that".

As the lockout looms, the NBA summer league looks in doubt this season, so the Knicks may not be able to "see where Jordan is at".
Walsh is happy that Jordan is in Serbia with Hemofarm.
"It's good that he went over there and got a chance to play at a higher level... being over there forces a guy to grow up," he said.
In a surprising move Walsh left the Knicks a week ago, but Jordan will be looking forward to his new adventure.

Dang, had no idea about the surgery. Glad he's ok.
Really looking forward to seeing him next season and how he's improved his game the past year.

This guy could end up being a quality add for us. Has more ups than Jorts and a good frame. He may be our starting center this year...

The Knicks have a decent amount of quickness around the perimeter now. With any luck, we should see better defense around the perimeter from the likes of Carmelo, Fields, Douglas, plus get some output from the Iman.

To avoid wear and tear on Amare, hopefully we can get 36+mpg out of Turiaf/Jordan/Jort regularly. On offense, we need Jordan/Jort to be effective enough finishers that their defenders stick to them, set some good picks, and take some of the defensive pressure off Amare.

I what what I've read/seen, Jordan/Jort are effective finishers around the basket. Jordan did it against international competition. I'm not sold on Jordan's footwork - he looked a step slow (too reactive) last summer in his limited showing. I'm optimistic the year of seasoning will help dramatically.

A euroleague game from his team last year.

Some Jordan showing in the first and 4th quarter. Nothing spectacular. He sets ok pics that, due to his size, result in open shots or dunks if he rolls. I like that he boxes out when the ball is in the air, instead of watching it and trying to go for the rebound.

I think this season should be a good learning experience for him, if it is enough for the rotation will be seen.

Forget Jordan. How about the Chatman cat who played for the team in black? That guy looked like a baller.

I am a little lukewarm on the video. He sets good picks. He definately occupies a lot of space. Seems to box out good enough. I was a little disappointed in his shot blocking skills. He was a little slow on help defense and they kept attacking the rim with good success against him. He will be a big body. I think his ceiling is Stacey King. I would be good with it.

This sounds more like Walsh channelling the Lord Isaiah.

Hope he doesn't, or you can kiss him goodbye in the CP3 or Deron trade.

Jordan has the smallest hips i've ever seen on a guy his size. He really needs to keep working on his strength. As for his shotblocking, he was late in responding, but I understand his hesitance to leave his man. That's why you need good perimeter D. If you can slow down the penetrator it gives your C a chance to get over and help.

For some reason I have more faith that Harrellson can hold his own in the NBA than Jordan. Jorts has that lower center of gravity, strength and girth. You just can't move him from his spot. There aren't a lot of 270 lb guys in there and if he gets position he can hold it. Should be interesting to watch and see.
