I thought about that one,
been along long time from the Patrick Ewing selection #1 I remember. (I am showing my age!)
That was back in my days leaving college & 1st big job.

Anyhow do you honestly ever think the NY Knicks whether thru a lucky deal in future or some other means will ever put themselves in position to snatch a lotto pick #1 and will you witness that in your current life ?

I cant answer that for myself!
Sure would be nice

After watching this NBA-Tv 1996 NBA draft (aka #1 A.Iverson) the Marbury draft, R.Allen draft and yes the Kobe draft, where bunch of teams talked big on Kobe but he fell to #13 Charlotte Hornets.

You know the rest is history. At least the often critiqued Iverson made run to 1 NBA final appearance with team whom drafted.

Another fact there isn't too many teams in past decade that has won NBA titles championship where a top 1-10 or 1-20 draft pick was selected or involved being a part of champion built team.

Even the mid-2000s Champion Pistons teams did not have BIG time superstar but Sheed Wallace was picked #4 (1995)

Folks will say here on board Both Knicks Stars Amare and Melo were top (1-10) picks, drafted elsewhere but I think Drafts are
vital and important. Knicks don't have too many picks at all over next few yrs.

To listen to trade rumors to trade pieces (Landry Fields, Douglass) I dont mind but I am not sure Knicks wont get their needs
unless they get picks and draft like crazy to go along with the skimpy free agent signings which some teams wont be able to afford.
Especially after the new CBA after looming NBA strike

Well I hope to live to 130 so YEAH I think i'll see another #1 overall pick for NY.

As for right now, I haven't really felt that every draft has had a player anywhere near Ewing. You have some guys that are just OK taking the #1 slot. This year may be another case of that.

Our best chance at a high pick was during the Isiah Thomas period, but he traded them away. I don't see us picking #1 anytime soon because now the team is halfway decent. Honestly, I'm less concerned with picking high than with picking well. Kobe at 13? $&#@! Why don't we ever have that kind of draft?

Starphuch teams don't wait for players to develop. Kobe still needed 3-4 years to get awesome. Thats like 20 in dog, er, I mean knick years.

By 21 years old, we had chandler and Gallo hitting the ceiling.

1995 draft was the draft Marbury drafted to Milw and swapped to Timberwolves for R.Allen same day
Marbury was crying like a baby full of joy & lifetime dream. He could not even talk

Its funny when I saw Marbury weeping I only think of him not as a ex-knick but as
this:
LOL!

No. I don't remember a time when we were ever in full rebuild mode.

I think a Knicks pick could be #1 but I don't think they would have the rights to it because of a trade.

Naah. That assumes that our record hovers around 42-40 again. I'm looking for a few 50 win seasons. Expect the draft choices to be in the mid 20's. The only way we get into the lottery is trading assets(?) that swap players and give us an unprotected 1st rounder in a later year.

when was the last time the lakers, mavericks or heat picked #1 overall? how about the OKC thunder?

i don't think a #1 overall pick on your team is key to winning it all. having lotto picks like melo, amar'e and chauncey is definitely something most champs have - but not always via the draft.

i'd be happy to win a championship before picking #1 again.

how many rings does michael olowokandi have? greg oden? andrew bogut? kwame brown? andreas bargnani? kenyon martin? elton brand? yao ming? that's 8 out of the last 13 #1 overall picks who aren't really remotely contenders anymore.

After watching that made for TV lottery this year, I doubt it. Wish the process were more transparent

Never, unless they go back to the one card in the barrel method...

Dolan/IT would trade it for conflict of interest waiver from the league anyway...

No conspiracy, NBA has shown it can do well when both Chicago and NY were both weak. Lebron became an international phenom in Cleveland.

Did that settle in yet? "IN CLEVELAND"........

If you can make it in Cleveland, you can make it anywhere.

Rubio if he plays well will still be big in Europe.

Superfriends in Miami was huge. Miami is bad sports town but they were big anyway.

To answer the question of KNicks getting a No. 1 pick? Nope.

This could stand to be repeated. A #1 pick is fun for a few weeks in the summer if you don't mind wasting an 82 game season. I'll much rather hang my hopes on a championship in my lifetime.

Well Kevin Durrant #2 pick, 1st Round close!

Seems Miami Heat was only team cited in your 3 which never had a Rnd1-#1 Pick
they had few notable picks within top 10 Rnd1. Few below very good & stars known.

Do You know ?
That the famed Scottie Pippen draft pick#5 ? dealt by stupid Knicks in 1987 to Seattle,
The next yr Sonics/thunder drafts Scottie and trades rights to Chicago 'jordan' Bulls & rest the whole forum board knows is history.

http://ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=34109

Instead of Patrick Ew & Pippen it became Batman (MJordan) & Robin (SPippen) 6 rings!
Shoots!
