That is really good news, we are already short bodies and couldn't handle another exit.

Hope we pick up 3 more bodies in this draft.

Don't worry he will have all of next season to heal because there won't be any basketball.

LOL, I think you are right, really dead on. I think at least half the season is locked out if the courts don't do something. Hey, if there is no Football or Basketball there is a chance that people might take more of an interest in government. So, now that I think of it, do the math...

This is Sterns swan song. I don't think he's going to allow a cancelled season when he's already had a prolonged lockout on his watch.

It's a bit naive to think this will make a difference, but the NBA is back in a big way. Everyone involved would be so foolish to let a lockout last to a point where games are cancelled.

For the Knicks, a lockout would be a disaster. Guys need as much burn as possible leading up to the season to learn D'Antoni and each other.

I don't believe the owners are losing money. I don't trust them anymore than I do the NFL owners. The Knicks aren't a great example cuz of our market, but they made over 400 Mil in profit. The owners are their own worst enemies, not the players. It's the owners who give out these huge contracts to guys that don't deserve them. But more than that, the moves they've made over the years have already limited the amount of money teams pay out. Now the system is in it's own way setup with welfare for bad teams, cuz the teams over the cap pay a penalty. You can't tell me the NBA store isn't making money hand over fist.

NBA licensing must be thru the roof. They set viewer records this year and had a great post season this year in terms of number of games. The owners forced the players into the system they have now and it was supposed to solve the problems with revenue for the owners. I don't like how the owners want to make sure they have 100% cost assurance by artificially limited what the players can make with a hard cap. The owners don't have a hard cap on how much money they can make!

NBA Store on 5th Ave closed down. And the owners from what I hear opened up their books and many teams are indeed losing money. NFL teams are definitely not losing money.

However, the NBAs problem is their own doing. Here's a good read about it by Simmons:

Still don't believe the owners lost money. Not in the way they're putting it. For one thing an NBA Store closing in Manhattan doesn't mean that on the whole fans don't still buy NBA gear. They just might have switched to buying online or at other stores. 2nd, Dolan didn't lose money, neither have the other 13 teams in the playoffs. SOME owners lost money or didn't make as much profit as they may have wanted. The owners are always coming to the players to save them from themselves. It's not the players fault it's the owners and bad GM work that is at fault. The thing is that the league attendance doesn't show that they have such a huge problem with ticket sales:

The problem is not revenue but spendings.
The cost to maintain the team and facilities increased dramatically. And revenues not so much.
They need to cut the fat and get read of zilions of people who are getting fed from NBA for nothing.
This is a problem for all corporate America and the Americaln government. NBA is not different.
We are in the state when Empare is strating to go down in flames. Time to clean the house nad cut teh fat across the board.
