This just came across at Draft Express: DraftExpress: Measurements just handed out here at the EuroCamp. Bismack Biyombo 6-8 w/out shoes, 7-6 wingspan, 9-4 standing reach, 245 lbs, 4.2% body fat He's actually 6-9 in shoes. With that 7-6 wingspan I don't think it really matters that his head height isn't an inch or so higher. He seems to me to be a guy that could be like Ben Wallace or Joel Anthony. He's all muscle, no fat at 245 that's impressive. |

Also if he is truly 18 he may still be growing. While he doesn't have a jumpshot he isn't tentative in the post and at 18 he is already built like a power forward in the nba. I believe that I read that he was introduced to basketball at 16 and two weeks later was on the national team. I think he would be a great pick for the Knicks. ![]() I would put him anywhere from 21-24 years old.
Late 1st round talent, IMO... and a good chance to be a lottery bust if someone takes a chance on him during those rounds. This is a guy who needs to be on a team which has the time to watch him grow and mature, and the Knicks are not that kind of team. I would not touch him at 17, but if we get a late #1 and he has fallen he would be a good pickup. No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Heck how old would you have said Odom was just from looking at him. This isn't the old days when we didn't really have access to foreign leagues or governments. I'm not saying that I know he's a young as he says, but we have far more access to information than we did in the past and I don't see any real advantage to them saying he's 18 if he wasn't going to an American College. As for him playing for the Knicks, I don't know that he wouldn't be able to help even now at this stage of his development. Looking at the game footage he looks MUCH better than the Euro Camp one on one. |

Oden (sp) was born in this country- and yeah, he could pass for 29 when he was in college, but I trust this country a bit more in terms of accurately determining a person's age. We have kids coming over from Africa and Latin America who are not the ages they claim they are all the time, and some are playing for soccer and baseball teams in the NYC school system. We have baseball players who have been age "outed." Something is fishy with this guy- just my opinion. He also has limited BB skills (outside of shot blocking), from what I saw, and I'm not going to get excited over a few dunks against some kids. I would be stunned if the Knicks take a shot at this kid at #17. Of course I'll love the guy he we do pick him, and find all kinds of ways to justify taking him if we do just so I can remain sane, but right now I'm thinking rationally, and I see a red flag when looking at this guy. ![]() He might have a promise from the Pistons (rumor on another board). I don't see him slipping much.
Looks like Jimmer might go 7 to Sacramento. Still a lot of moving around in the next 10 days. The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein

![]() My concern with Biyombo is his foul rate... he is a definite project and if he can't stay on the floor he's no good to a team.
"Biyombo’s aggression on the defensive end has a downside: he’s very foul-prone. He committed two fouls per game in just 17 minutes, which extrapolates to nearly five per 40 pace adjusted." Rose is not the answer.

![]() This dude is a project. I would rather take a chance on Brooks, Jenkins, or some of the other guard prospects. In fact, I would draft Tyler before I drafted this kid. Tyler at least has the size to be a center. Biyombo looks to be strictly a PF to me.

Some of the things I've read about Tyler suggest that he's not really comfortable playing center at this point in his career either. The things is, at the very least, we know Biyombo is an above average rebounder and shotblocker. From the one game I saw him play, I can tell you Biyombo is also a competitor. Tyler has greater physical potential, but the rest is really up in the air. It could a situation similar to the own Orlando had when they chose Dwight Howard over Okafor...on a much smaller scale of course. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.

I don't disagree that he has proven that he can rebound and block a shot, but if he cannot play center, is he ever going to get off the bench? He does not look like he can hit a jumpshot consistently and does not have a polished low post game. I am not saying Tyler is a better prospect necessarily, but Tyler has center size and a more developed post-game. NOw if Tyler does not have a motor, then I agree, you have to draft the guy with a high motor, but in everything I have read about Tyler, nothing suggests that the guy does not compete. Now, I would add that there are some questions about Biyombo's age. Is he 18? This was Dwight when he was 18 (I think) and OK4 when he was 21. Is Biyombo done growing?

![]() NBADraft.net now has Biyombo falling to #20 - Minny; also Klay Thompson falling to #19 Charlotte. Those are 2 guys I would love to have. (They have us back taking Singleton, also a good pick IMO.) We need another draft pick.

![]() 1. Biyombo isn't built like Dwight even taking into consideration the heigh differences. The comparison is to Ben Wallace. A comparison that still is unsettling because Ben is a one of a kind player. Having a similar body doesn't mean much. Sheldon Williams who is on our squad had a ridiculous wingspan and a little jumper. Hes also really smart. Id rather develop him, he's been in the league only 4-5 years.
2. I was never sold on him. Folks saw 1 game. He's unskilled his age is a question mark. I went to high school with Felipe Lopez who is Dominican and folks said he was 14 or 15. I was a junior he was a freshman. I look him up on wikipedia, he's now listed as the same age as me. This isn't some far away exotic land, this is DR, a couple of miles off the florida coast. Biyombo could easily be much older. The draft camp folks doubted his age and I tend to agree. What 6-9 guy with a great wingspan is in the league being a force? HOw many are there? What are the odds that he pans out? I was never convinced that teams would take him as high as he was mocked, 9th 10th? for a virtual unknown? I wouldnt do that as a GM, it would be irresponsible and I wouldnt want to risk losing my job. |

There is no developing Sheldon any more. Nada. And I am not sure how much of an unknown Biyombo is, he is playing in a high'ish level Euro Spanish league and dominating defensively. It's not definitive by any means, but nothing we should turn our noses on either. I think Biyombo's agent is trying to sell teams on some sort of aging test that he got a while back, supposed to look at wrist bone development or something. I didn't have Thompson on my 10 list because I thought he would be gone, but I would definitely take a shot at him if he is available. Smart kid, good pedigree, and a beautiful shot. If he can play D, he is a perfect compliment to Anthony and Amare. Has to get stronger, but he may be a Reggie Miller lite at some point in his career.
