Knicks’ Kurt Thomas Suspended One Game

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 – New York Knicks center Kurt Thomas has been suspended for one game without pay for headbutting Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations.
The incident occurred with 6:07 remaining in the second quarter of the Knicks' 105-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 10 at American Airlines Center.

Thomas will serve his suspension during tonight's game against the New Orleans Hornets at New Orleans Arena.

Andrew do you have any idea how a player could have reacted to someone head butting them in a hot contested game? This is how brawls start! He acted like a knucklehead and from now on he should portray a fiesty player who has a chip on his shoulder and plays within the rules of the game. By getting suspended he will probably never do that stupid act again.

A brawl like situation can be started from any form of confrontation. KT did a very stupid thing, but I'm not sure it warrented a suspension. Elbows thrown at players have resulted in less punishment.

Thomas is a repeat offender of folly, Stu probably saw enough of his games and notice a trend and suspended him to stop further folly from him.

I've seen Shaq elbow people in the face with a whole lot more force than the tap Thomas gave Howard in yesterday's game.. and majority of the time they don't even call fouls on Shaq and his out of control elbows... I really hate these rules that are not consistent across the board.

This is such bs, it was a playful headbutt, its not like he rammed his head into him. Everyone seems to forget that Howard elbowed Kurt right before that happened, no one saw that of course. Anyway it was still a dumb move by Thomas and it cost us already.

Yup! I'm getting tired of the inconsistency of NBA officiating and decision making. And this is another example.

he deserves it in my opinion. what he did was flat out idiotic.

This madness threw a monkey wrench in the Knicks' hopes of reaching .500, by the All-Star break... Hopefully KT comes back with something to prove and Allan stays healthy when he comes back next week.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
