I always liked Bonzi Wells. Though I don't see him being a fit for this team.

Crittendon is definitely worth a look, too.

I guess this means we are signing 1 yr deals in hope of landing a Paul or Deron in 2012.

Deron was in the Mavs lockerroom in Dallas after the game tonight. Shades of Artest visiting the Lakers in 2008.

We will have real cap room in 2012 - it makes sense to hold on to it and see what it can net the team. Whether it's CP3 or someone else... it seems worth it.

When we are dragging players like this into camp, you know the team has no cap flexibility post Melo deal.

Then why do they have max cap space coming up in 2012? They have flexibility, it just requires some patience to access.

This article explains what the Knicks are actually doing with the Mini Camp. This is about the D-League as much as future cheap players to add to the team.
http://www.ridiculousupside.com/2011/6/10/2216914/knicks-free-agent-workout-d-league-bayhawks
The New York Knicks are diving full bore into the D-League this week. Following their partnership with the Erie BayHawks earlier on Wednesday, team executives invited a host of professional prospects to take part in the first of two planned free agent workouts as the team builds its database of potential training camp invitees.

The Knicks had what was expected to be around 18 players in on Thursday, though Ridiculous Upside's trusty network of league sources was only able to learn 10 of the names as of late Thursday night.

The most recognizable name expected in attendance was 34-year-old NBA veteran Bonzi Wells. Wells was a lottery pick in the 1998 NBA Draft , eventually amassing 591 NBA games with five teams, before recent stops playing professional basketball in China and Puerto Rico.

Others confirmed to be invited to the workout were guards Jerel McNeal, Will Conroy and Javaris Crittenton along with big men Cedric Simmons, Jeff Foote, Vernon Goodridge, Trent Plaisted, Ivan Johnson and Arinze Onuaku. McNeal, Crittenton, Goodridge, Johnson and Onuaku all played in the D-League last season.

If the names compiled so far aren't intriguing enough, it's actually the first of two planned free agent camps the Knicks have in store this month.

"We have two free agent mini-camps that we are holding which will give us an idea of how to prepare," new BayHawks general manager Allan Houston told D-League.com's Matthew Brennan. "The draft workouts are also helpful, this draft has some good players who might not get drafted. We've already started to catalog guys that we feel could be good for the team, and we'll take it as it goes as the summer moves forward."

"I'm looking forward to learning more about the D-League, and about developing the young prospects we know are going to be in the NBA at some point," Houston went on to say. "It's about getting a landscape of scouting players who can potentially be in this league, and learning more about operating the team."

The Knicks second workout, according to a source, is schedule for June 25 and 26 -- two days after the NBA Draft.

Allen Iverson wants to make a comeback in the NBA
June 9, 2011 | 11:55 am

It was Allen Iverson's rookie year and he was being guarded by one of the greatest basketball players of all-time, Michael Jordan.

Iverson juked left and crossed the ball over to his right hand. Jordan recovered. Iverson repeated the move, this time sending Jordan off-balance, and made a mid-range jumper. The YouTube video has nearly 700,000 page views, the play indelibly ingrained in the imaginations of its viewers.

Ahhhh, those were the days.

Iverson, the 2001 NBA MVP, has recently been far removed from his glory days. The 36-year-old played for four teams in his last two season in the NBA, and eventually left the Philadelphia 76ers in February 2010.

He went to Turkey to play for Besiktas, but returned home after a calcium mass developed on his right calf. Iverson is expected to be cleared to play in mid-July.

Where? In the NBA, he hopes.

"I know what I can do," he said. "Everybody in the world knows what I can do. Everybody knows what I can do on the basketball court.

"Just give me a training camp. Maybe I've rubbed people the wrong way as far as saying the things I've said in my life and in my career. But if any team needs me to help try and win a championship in any capacity, I'm waiting."

I was very pleased to see the degree of seriousness they're putting into this venture. This is the most progressive move this franchise has ever made. I really feel good about this.

Bonzi is about 35-36 yrs old so this is probably just a courtesy. Bonzi went to China a couple years ago and averaged 45 ppg.

They said Bonzi looked good. It's not impossible for him to have something left. Kidd is 38! The Mavs have made good use of older vets off the bench. They're cheap and experienced. Anthony Carter was great for us this year.

Joe Alexander was invited also, per Hahn. He said Alexander and Wells both impressed. Alexander is the type of guy I think would be a good fit.
