since the all star break is coming around and it is technically a down period i thought i would start off with interesting topics. here are my top five ( remember, i started watching in the late eighties so if i omit some from the seventies, i am sorry):

5.)gerald wilkins- awful jumpshooter. not great skill-wise and overrated defender but man can he jump. he used to sky in the lane like a hawk ( wink, wink). he was the first person i have seen do a 360 dunk in a game. best dunk moment: 360 dunk.

4.)john starks- talk about energy, he was it. he was so fearless and he took it to anyone. ask jordan or reggie miller. he had mad hops.
best dunk moment: you had to ask? probably one of the best dunks in playoff history when he dunked over jordan LEFT-HANDED!

3.)marcus camby- he was like the human pogo stick. he was leaping everywhere. he was the best with tip-in dunks. it seemed like he came out of nowhere. too bad his style of play used to earn him a spot on the injured list
best dunk moment: the facial he gave to mt.mutumbo in the 99 playoff. he flew in like an eagle and threw it down over the big guy. that was gangbusta!

2.) latrell sprewell- he probably would have moved up on the list if we had circa 96 but he still gave us energetic moments between 99-02. his dunks were the rare combination of grace and power. such raw energy. when you see his snarl, get the hell out of the way.
best dunk moment: when he dunked over the whole utah jazz squad ferociously. damn!

1.) patrick ewing- not number one in some people's list but he is in my list. i love powerful dunks and ewing used to dish them out left and right. he dunked over anyone who were in his way. POWER.
best dunk moment: so many but it has to be when he dunked over mourning to clinch a victory in the playoff. he crapped on mourning bad with that dunk.

How can you leave Kenny "Sky" Walker in that list. He should be number 1.

Anthony Bonner MISTA ATHLETE!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

the reason i left him off the list was becuase i never saw him "oommph" one in a game. he did do well in the dunk contest in 90 but he did not do it in a game. i should have said dunkers in game situations. if i did honorable mention he would be there along with bernard king, anthony mason and johnny newman.

Ken Bannister was the nastiest dunker that I remember--in games dunks with with meaning along with Patrick. Gerald Wilkins slightly ahead of John Starks[although GW was a much more forceful dunker] Sky Walker just behind them but he was the best *showman* dunker we ever had --then Sprewell+Camby. We were never really a dunking player type team.

The only thing I think of when I see Charles Smith is "Smith stopped, Smith stopped, smith stopped again ... and he lost it out of bounds!"

Starks over the bulls.

How bout we make an easier list... lol

People who were dunkers UNTIL they became Knicks:

5.) Latrell Sprewell
4.) Doc Rivers
3.) Charles Smith
2.) Bo Kimble
1.) Larry Johnson

yeah, it is kind of ironic the many people we had that USED to throwdown and came to the knicks and stay grounded. you can add kurt thomas ( in his miami days- pre ankle surgery), allan houston( in detroit he did dunk quite a bit and said to have had a better vertical leap than grant hill at that time), and xavier mcdaniel ( he was nasty in seattle).
