MJax is one of my all time favorite Knicks. He is a great guy on and off the court. I think he will do a great job there.

Knicksfan - not a single person referred to Mark Jackson as a god. Find just one example of that usage and I will personally send you $100, no questions asked.

If you do not think he deserves an opportunity to coach, fine. Do NOT make it something that it is not by injecting your own bias.

There are plenty of NBA players who created a positive record as head coaches with no prior experience.

New Owner. No Fear.

"We were looking for a coach with leadership ability and a strong personality and believe Mark possesses those qualities," Larry Riley said. "He's very well respected in NBA circles, is a consummate professional and his knowledge and background will be an incredible asset for our team and organization."

Under new owner Joe Lacob, the Warriors have worked to upgrade their management this offseason, following a 36-46 campaign - the team's 15th losing season over the last 17 years. Golden State recently added NBA legend Jerry West to the team's front office as an adviser and now bring in Jackson.

"I am really elated about this opportunity and I'm looking forward to the challenge of building the Warriors into a perennial contender," Jackson said.

Congratulations Mark Jackson.

We could have had both of them West and Jackson. He's gotta be as capable as Smart and the guy before Nellie

Wish him the best of luck. The best part about this is that I can't stand his NBA commentating, so will be glad to not hear him. He's a good guy and smart, but he's the worst commentator they have.

Will be interesting to see how he does as coach.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

A slice of the $24 million the Knicks spent on D'Antoni could have been invested in scouts, assistants, player development or draft picks.

Oh well.

Crossover Appeal

The beauty of Mark Jackson is that he is old school enough to have a first hand knowledge of the NBA legacy from the era of Doctor J and Larry Bird... and new school enough to relate to players under 27.

What is hip?

Really? Wow, Ill let you know when I find something and we work things out. Now I accept Paypal!

Kidding aside, whats the fuss with me? I havent posted in a while and just posted it like that since Mark has always been a fascinating subject here, with many clamoring for him to coach us as he would be the best option and others saying he has no experience. Now we will know what we lost or gained.

Im all for giving him a chance as he was a cerebral point guard and if he brings that to the sidelines he will be good-great. Dont know why you are jumping on me on my comment but if it helps you let anger out, fine by me my friend! Cheers to Mark!

Good Luck Action Jackson!! If he is really smart, he will hire JVG as his asst coach. He needs to surround himself with capable assistants similar to what Doc Rivers did the first time he coached.

Genius. That's exactly his commentating. I'd rather have Yoda:

Overrated by many for having done nothing to show he's a capable head coach.

I do wish him luck though.

Mark Jackson will fit in with the other members of the GSW backcourt. None of them will ever claim defense as a strong suit.

Overrated is a term for chumps

Mark Jackson was rated highly enough to the only person that matters.

Knicksfan - don't let a little chin music throw you out of the batters box. You are correct, Mark Jackson is getting a chance. That is all anyone can expect. As a player who always looked for the open man and a man who understands the league from the vantage point of having studied and researched every player (or had an intern research it for him) Jax is in a great spot. Never underestimate the amount of study that goes into any professional telecast. Golden State is a perfect place to launch his coaching career.

Armed with a New York swag, by next March we might all be saying, "Momma, there goes that man!"

Finally, Jax gets his comeuppance. He is going to be a solid NBA head coach. All the best to him in San Francisco.
